What's wrong with the ones that come with the bike? Am I missing the crucial key to getting 400w by using the factory skewers? Will aftermarket skewers make the girls want me more???? TELL ME NOW!!!!

I'd recommend finding some on ebay... imho, paying more than $40-$50 on skewers is mad... once you put them on, you basically forget about them. not exactly something to nit-pick on.
actually, dont forget about them.. especially quick releases... unless you like pain. I enjoy my generic Ti, allen head skewers.

Proud new cult member ... abbreviated version of how I got here
- some low-life stole my wife's 2006 CAAD8 (which she loved) out of our garage because we left it open for about an hour
- naturally, the low-life ignored my aging 2005 Allez that I had been hoping to get rid of after 8 years getting my money out of it
- we live in Houston, in Washington Corridor area ... hipsters and low-life scumbags all over this place, they're indistinguishable BTW
- decided to replace both bikes with some keepers
- Statefarm gave us $1500 for the CAAD8 (full replacement insurance FTW)
- sold the Allez on Craigslist for $250 in literally 2 hours
- bought a Men's 2014 CAAD10 Ultegra and a Women's 2014 CAAD10 Ultegra ... both in black
- out the door with tax and 2 pairs of Shimano 6800 Ultegra pedals for under $5000
- received the bikes 2 weeks ago
- rained last 2 weekends, naturally
- got frustrated and decided to bust out the trainer and have a little pre-winter indoor fun and watch some football
- grabbed some pics of mine while she's nice and shiny (the parts that aren't matte black anyway)
- completely in love with the bike, but dying to get out on the road when it isn't wet
- only planned upgrades are two sets of RS81-C24s for me and the mrs
- hope you enjoy the pics, I've enjoyed eyeballin' everyone else's

I have a 2012 CAAD10 105. That 2014 CAAD10 3 is making me contemplate selling my current bike and getting one of those instead, since I know I'll eventually want to upgrade it.

I have a buyer for the mavic wheels that come with the bike, so the skewers go with them. i don't care about wattage or weight (that much). just want something sturdy, good looking (if i can get affordable and light then i'm happy) budget is approx $60-70

@ dk2ck: It's 50cm
@ SirHustlerEsq: Thanks, it's a loft-style 3-story townhouse. There is a lot of cool architecture/design in this part of Houston.

Bummer about Houston. Didn't know it was like that. Just make sure you invest in a good lock/chain/cable for those coffee stops. Turn your back on your unlocked bike for a second...bam...gone.

welcome - let us know how the long ride goes too. It was a long time ago when I owned my first CAAD - well maybe 16 years or so. Very nice back then. I've got a new CAAD now (CAAD9 since '09) and still great fun. enjoy !

My GF lives in Houston (near Rice) and she told me that recently its quite popular to steal bicycles off bike racks on cars in traffic. So make sure to lock your bike to the bike rack when transporting.

Texas, along with other states where this madness exists, need to address the popularity of such crimes and make it very unpopular.
