Didnt want to start a new thread, so
I recently purchased the bargain basement 2010 allez from my LBS. I was told here to not bother upgrading it, and save my funds for a better bike. my allez is the only bike i have now, my varsity bit the dust(ill fake a tear here :'( ) I love it. my first quality road bike. my income is limited being 22, but after reading this thread, is there any reason i shouldnt upgrade to 105 or DA, whether it be as soon as i can afford it, or when components need replacing? Is there anything i need to be wary about using an allez as an everyday bike? Allez seems to be getting more attention these days as bike prices in general continue to increase. |

The frame is money, find a secondhand rival/force group and you've got a sweet bike at a pretty good price.
Find a 2nd hand Allez/frame and do what you want with it... |

Thats funny, i have the bargain basement allez from 2006 and was told (courtesy of BF :)) that it was a good frame to upgrade stuff on. And I'm still happy with it.
