No riding for a while
During my twice a year brake pad replacement session I noticed a bump in my rim, around one of the spokes. Looking closer I actually noticed it's not a bump, but along the side of the bump-alike I noticed a tear in my rim.
My rim is actually tearing
And I thought I was all set getting me a Mavic CXP22 wheelset. Been 10 months and it's already dieing on me.
I sent an email to the company that built the wheels and am hoping for either a refund, or a new wheel. I'd rather have a refund, as I'm not too confident in riding these wheels anymore, so a new one wouldn't make me too happy...

I've done several searches around the web to find an image illustrating what has happened. Can't find any images on that though.
I'm really unpleasantly surprised with this too. I've gotten me a solid wheel with a lot of spokes to accomodate my slightly higher weight. Even though I've not weighed over 94kg's while riding these wheels, somehow the rim started tearing.
I'll take a picture of it tonight, I'm assuming the company where I purchased it will want a copy of that as well to evaluate before I send the wheel in for replacement/repair.

Had that coming, didn't I
Having a look at several different wheelsets right now. Though I'm not sure what to take. Most of them have too few spokes, I just don't trust them.

Looks like a defect that's for sure. Hopefully the company that you bought them from will provide you some good customer service. Second wheelset is in order here.

I'm up for that, but are they able to carry a 90kg cyclist?

That's exactly what I thought when I looked at a few tests.
Just in case I might need to get new wheels, I'm keeping Fulcrum Racing 7's in mind. Love the way they look, and they are able to carry around 110kg's max. Since my weight is going down slowly (even when I'm not cycling for a while) I'll be set with these I guess.

definitely spoke pulling through, had that happen on a neuvation rear wheel, just got done relacing it.

Instead of the Racing 7's some other rims came across my laptop screen tonight.
DT Swiss RR465
Mavic Open Pro
Mavic CXP33
Rigida DP18
Will contact the German company by phone tomorrow, since I've not had any reply from them whatsoever. Hopefully they'll be willing to speak with me in English or maybe even Dutch if I'm lucky. Still hope it'll come to a decent warranty claim, but since they seem to ignore me I'm losing hope in that slowly.

Lucky for me they speak English over there. Apparently it falls within warranty, so I'm sending the wheel in for repair. Should be fun...
Me > PB > Mavic > PB > Me
So, we're at the first me in the row now so it may take 3 months or so for a decent wheel to return at my doorstep.
