Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tires losing Pressure

Hello,

The pressure of my tires gradually drops from 110PSI to 80PSI every week. I'm not sure if this is normal, as on my MTB, I usually only pumped my tires a couple times a month. Do I need to buy new tubes or tires?

I originally thought it was normal because it is happening to both wheels...and both of them can't be failing...

I simply wish to check with the community.

thanks.

Normal. It's even worse with lightweight tubes. Mine rear wheel is sometimes at 40 or 50psi if it's been a week.

Mine don't go down quite that much, but what you are experiencing is normal.

do you need somebody else to say "Normal"? Because i'm available...
Part of the reason: Your MB tires probably hold three or four times as much air, and it's at half the pressure. The air doesn't push as hard to get out, and if you lose some, there's enough left over that you don't notice it. Just check the pressure every ride or two and you'll be fine.

Normal. Sometimes it happens faster because it has a slow leak though. So just take a baseline with whatever brand of tube you normally use so you know when something is wrong. Just last week I noticed mine were losing about 40psi in one day, which is unusual compared to the usual 10psi or so each day it normally would lose. Replaced the tube and it's been normal ever since.

How many people does it take to say normal. These types of thread should be one and done.

The best tip you can ever give anyone is pump your tires up before EVERY ride. Period. If you are not then you will experience more tire problems than those that do.
