Good luck finding the noise. You may lose your sanity before you find it.

Does the noise occur at a particular point in your pedal revolution, regardless of what gear you're in? If so, then it's your BB. Or maybe a pedal, but more likely the BB.

I've had grinding noises from my Chorus 11 rear derailleur. In mine, it has been caused by the upper pulley being too close to the cassette. It only happens in the lowest gears (biggest cogs). There is an adjusting screw that will increase or decrease the distance between the pulley and cassette.
But, your noise could be caused by something else. For instance, there could be grit in the seat tube. That noise is more squeaky/clicky than grinding, but it's a possibility since you hear it while you're sitting and pedaling. You can eliminate the seat tube/seatpost possibility by standing and pedaling. If the noise goes away, you've found the culprit.

Good call on that. I've beeen experiencing some gritty noise that started after a couple of rain rides. I just sort of assumed it was crap that worked it's way into my bottom bracket. But now I'm thinking it's a sandy, gritty chain that I'll clean this weekend. thanks for that obvious reminder that I should have already considered!

How long have you been riding the current set-up ? Maybe the rear derailleur is a bit out of adjustment.
