Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whatever you're about to ask, someone has posted something on the topic somewhere. So instead of asking, use the search feature or google because it's all out there.

The purpose of these forums is to provide an environment for senior members to endlessly repeat themselves and admonish n00bs.

Under some circumstances, it is appropriate to discuss new cycling products -- so long as you have spent no less than 3 hours exploring the company website, all other forums, and the rest of the internet to make sure what you were going to ask wasn't already posted.

It is always OK to start a thread whining about repetitive threads. Although you'll see many of them, threads complaining about repetition are not considered repetitive, nor are single word posts that have been used hundreds or even thousands of times.

Nevermind using the search feature or google ... try reading the titles on the first and second page, and you'll likely find half a dozen threads on the topic you're thinking of posting about.

Has it ever occurred to you that starting a thread that contains links to a large number of threads on the same subject might actually be helpful to some?

Can you not see past the sarcasm inherent in the title to notice the amount of actual work put in to something as well?

Talk about judging a book by its cover.

You can't fool me. This thread is a personal attack. It has little to do with the stated premise.

I'm new to cycling and to this forum but after reading some of the threads here I'm afraid to ask anything.

All kidding aside if you have questions ask them. You may get a little bit of a hard time but you will also get answers. There is a wealth of information available on this site and some great members that love to help others.

With that said, welcome to the site.

Actually, renton, if you ask a question that you can't find an answer to with just a little effort on your part before you ask it you will get a lot of help.

Oh, and if you're not a girl let on that you are and you can get away with anything.

Again, for the hundredth time.

Someone please explain to me why it matters if people repeat questions instead of searching for answers. How does that affect you, why does it matter to you?

Well, it eats up bandwidth that could be better devoted to snark.
