Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This time of year....

.... my house looks like a drying rack for all the clothes. Gloves, base layers, arm warmers, let warmers, stocking type caps, shoe covers, jerseys, bib shorts. They're hanging all over anything that can support them to dry after washing.

It'll be like this for several months, then it'll be back to just bib shorts and jerseys.

Good thing that about half the cycling clothes hanging up belong to my wife!

Time to STALK FOR WOMAN PANTIES!

On a serious note : Over here temperature already drops under 5-10 °C quite often... and during the night it can reach down to 0°C and it's not even november yet... You're lucky to still be cycling at this time of the year

1. You can dry cycling clothes in a drier if you've got one ... and you don't have to set it on "hot".

2. Is it rainy where you are? If not, hang them outside.

3. If it is rainy, get a really large drying rack. We don't have a drier, just a line outside and a large drying rack big enough to handle a whole load of wash.

Weather permitting, I dry on a line in the back yard. Otherwise I use a rope that runs across the inside of my garage.

But this is socks, shoe covers, shorts, from the last time I went out in the rain.

As Machka pointed out, for most stuff you can use one of these.

Trade ya Joel.

FWIW - I have a large plastic bin that holds a ton of winter gear that just goes right into my car around this time of year. That way I have what I need when I need it. I take the stuff needed - inside and wash. Hang up on a hanger right next to the washing machine on one of these cool little hanging racks that folds flat and is mounted to the wall. Next time out the door they go with me.

I just use the low setting in the dryer and then set them out to dry for about an hour afterwards. It seems like the chamois in my assos shorts takes FOREVER to hang dry.

I need to get a little fold up scaffolding hanger thing like yarb posted. I just don't know where i'd put it.

In Knoxville, it's been a little wet, but all I wore yesterday was a kit with a ls baselayer.

The temperature was in the mid 60s.

When drying stuff I use hangers. If it's a lot of stuff I can't put on hangers, I'll use my desk corner, chair, bikes, etc.

This looks like the drying rack we have ...

https://uk.shop.com/cc.class/cc?main=...2Ct1&ccsyn=261 (I'm not necessarily promoting this particular company, just showing the link which contains details about this drying rack)

It is quite a versatile rack because the "shelves" can be up, allowing you to lay items out, or down allowing you the room to hang clothes. It can also be folded flat for storage.

In the winter, when it rains just about every day, we put it up in our dining room a couple metres away from the heater to speed the drying process.

But there are heaps of drying rack options out there.

it's appalling that people are washing their cycle clothes in the machine.

I think I see a brown stain on the red chamois.

Don't use the dryer. Read the labels.

I was out on Sunday with just shorts and a jersey. It was in the upper 50's, so that was a warm day here.

It's fine to use the dryer on the "Air Only" or "no Heat" setting. I do this when I have a quick turnaround needed on items.

Why?
Most of my stuff is PI or Giodonna, it's not worth the time and effort for me to handwash and hang dry the stuff.
And I'm not expecting to get more than a couple years out of the stuff.
Now if I owned Assos or some of the other higher end stuff I might take the time.

How do you not use the dryer when riding everyday? (especially if it's been rainy or foggy) It's either dryer or ride every other day so I opt for the dryer. Everything's been okay from base layers to bibs. Unless they're being damaged on a microscopic layer I can't see with the naked eye.
