Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Van Dessel Rivet

Opinions? Anybody have one?

With our team deal, I can get a discount on the frame.

I kinda want to get it, in part because it is my understanding that it will have our team name on it, and heck its nice to get a new bike.

But, on the other hand I'm thinking it's no better than TCR Team Advanced, and maybe even not quite as nice.

It's gorgeous, for sure. One of the bikes I drool over. I've only ever seen one in person, and the guy riding it thought it was great, but that's just one kid. The reviews are good, and Van Dessel makes good bikes. And their team sponsorship deals really can't be beat. I have no idea how it compares to a TCR Team Advanced, though.

Bikes: Ever changing..as of 2-24-09: 2003 Giant TCR Team Once, Sampson titanium, 1992 Paramount Series 3, 2003 Cervelo P3, 70s Raleigh Record fixed gear, 70s Fuji SL-12 commuter, mid 90s Klein MTB. Plus two or three frames lurking, plus 5 wife/kids rides

Yeah, I need a new frame like I need a hole in my head, but I'm thinking about it too. It'd be good to hear from an owner or two.

FWIW, I looked the frame over and it appears very, very similar to my Element Six. Tapered steerer, BB30, similar tubing profiles, yada yada. The Edge/Enve fork is nice, also.

Bikes: Van Dessel Rivet Dura-Ace

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have a Rivet w/FSA K-Force Lite Ceramic BB30. I made the switch from a Trek 5200 so I can only compare to that.
Very light, stiff and very very responsive. Here is a pic with training wheels on it

Bikes: Lots. Chapter2, Van Dessel, Giant, Trek, etc Dealers for BMC, Chapter2

The team i used to manage has a bunch of them under riders now. I have been outfitting them with Quarq Cinqo units. From them the reviews are mixed. I've heard a lot of, "meh - it's nice." and "It'll work." not a lot of "OMFG it's the best bike I have ever ridden!"

One guy in particular is about 190 and a cat 3 sprinter. Really powerful and complains about the flexing. Another is much lighter and an awesome solo rider/break kind of guy and his response was that it was OK. He is coming from racing a Cervelo for years though....FWIW.
