2011 Giant TCR Advanced frame
Went with a buddy to an LBS today to check out a new 2011 SuperSix he is thinking about buying and I got the chance to take out a 2011 TCR Advanced 2 for a spin. At first I thought a Medium size frame would be too small but to my surprise it felt just right. The bike had the same exact setup I ride now with 5700, 12-25 cassette, and 39/53 crank except I have a mix of 5600 and 6600 (6600 crank, RD, cassette, chain, and 5600 shifters and FD).
The bike was very responsive with twitchy steering which I like. The bike felt stiff yet very comfortable on the road. The 2011 framesets also come with the same fork as the Advanced SL.
I told the shop guy that I was not in the market for a new bike and when I told him what I ride he said I could also just order the frameset for $1300. So now I am seriously considering ordering the frameset and transferring everything over from my current bike which is a Fuji Cross Comp. Am I crazy to do this or should I just keep my money and go for a complete new bike next year? If I bought the frame I would upgrade to Force next year which would probably still be cheaper than buying a complete bike with Force. I have no need for a new drivetrain right now anyway so I could easily wait until end of next year to upgrade.
I bought the Fuji at the beginning of this year as my first bike in over 10 years and went with a CX bike because I did not know if I was going to like road riding that much and CX somewhat intrigued me so I wanted something versatile. Now I know that I don't like CX.

Im in the market for that exact bike ,Ive been chatting with various LBS all speak highly of the Tcr adv 2
2011 has very light and lively front end should make decending a snap.
I found the test ride lively, not too twitchy, but smooth as silk.

Keep the cross bike and then wait to get the tcr too. Use the cross for dirt roads and smooth single track - great fun! Buying frame and components separately is expensive.

The Cross Comp is a cyclocross bike, so some of the components will not or might not transfer directly. First, you will need to replace the Fuji's linear-pull brake calipers with road-style calipers, preferably of a dual pivot design. Second, the Fuji's tires, and possibly the wheels, will be too wide for the Giant's tight clearances. Third, you may eventually want to replace the Fuji's cyclocross crankset with a standard or compact road setup. Seatpost diameters and front derailleur attachment might also present some incompatibilities.
That said, I love my older TCR C0. It's not a bike to fall asleep on, but I can ride it hard all day.

It's awesome that Giant is finally getting a hold on aesthetics. Personally I'd do it if I had the money. As previously stated you'll need to replace certain components, but the old stuff can be sold off to help recoup costs. If you've decided you are never going to hit the dirt again you might as well.

did he say anything about delivery date? i inquired at my local dealer and they said 2011 frames wont be ready to deliver until early 2011

This is another bike on my list to test ride. I'm in the market for my first CF frame and i've been looking at so many different brands. I have a $3k limit. Tarmacs, Madones, Wilier Izoard, Supersix, the list goes on, too many to choose from in this price point.

As far as the frame goes it is a fantastic bargain at the price they are charging for the frame. You could easily put together a machine with full Force and 2010 Cosmic Carbone's for $3000.
BTW the 2011 frameset now comes with the same fork that's in the SL and it's still over $200 less than last year.
