Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

short sleeves, use arm warmers and easy to take off when temp becomes warm later in the ride. could be 50s when i head out in the AM and high 70s by the time i finish.

depends if it's on sale.

I have a few of SS ones that I picked up cheaply that I wear regularly now that the temps have dropped (base layer, SS jersey and arm warmers). I wear a no-sleeve BL under my jersey in the summer.

Depends on how much I'll have to take off during the ride.

I'm not really sure what arm warmers have to do with no sleeves vs. short sleeves as a base layer.

Sleeveless. I wear my summer base layer(s) year round. I have gotten to were I can't stand to ride without one, even on the trainer.

Hmmm. I read the original post as long vs no sleeves. I don't like short sleeve base layers. I think they would bunch up with or without arm warmers.

Depends on the temperature.

Sometimes I'll wear short sleeve base layer with a long sleeve jersey. Makes the chest a little warmer. When it's getting pretty cold, I'll wear long sleeve base layer under a long sleeve jersey.

Short sleeve. Helps save shoulder in a crash.

Correct.

Unfortunately this information is above your BF Security Clearance, if not your pathetic pay grade.
