Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

10 layers?

I am planning to ride in similar condition tomorrow morning. Hopefully I don't need 10 layers.

When I was in Moab over thanksgiving I rode in fewer layers, and it was only 32 degrees.

Bikes: 2012 Guru Praemio R - 2001 Jamis Ventura - 1990 Specialized Hard Rock (with original tires) - 2012 Trek Cobias

Today I started out at 31 degrees. I count my layers:

Top:

- Pantagonia Capelene base layer
- North Face base layer
- Swobo wool jersey + Smart Wool arm warmers
- GBW Phantom Wind Stopper

Bottom:

- Performance bike shorts
- Performance long tights

Hands:

- Pantagonia glove liners
- Zoot full finger gloves

Feet:

- Smartwool PHD socks
- Shoes
- GBW Gore-Tex Booties

So, not including the shoes, I do have 10 layers

Edit: I forgot the balaclava on my head. So I have 11
