Recurring saddle sores

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No really this makes it far worse. The process of shaving-pulling out while cutting- the hair leads to a higher risk of infection. In surgery we have found shaving only increases wound infection rates.

Also important is to get out of your shorts and shower when your done riding- the process of siting around in your clothes after riding may make things worse- if no shower available then improvise with the local restroom. Consider 100 % wool- I have switched to all wool clothing this year and it is amazing- can ride a week with the same clothes and there is absolutely no stink or smell that one gets with the synthetics.

okay, then just use a chemical hair dissolver, like nair.
Constant tugging and brushing on thick hair at sensitive locations, like butt, ankles and face does cause sores.

not gonna try a 20 min hot bath with epsom salt? you don't know what your missing.also get out of the saddle from time to time and reposition your shorts somewhat from time to time. ingrown hair follicles are less likely if they can find a comfortable resting position between you and the shorts

Yeah it is- the point is that shaving increases infection- from bacteria being pulled into the follicles . Apply this to the butt, an area covered with a thin film of stool and presto-saddle sores. In surgery the same process leads to local infection in the area to be operated on and thus wound infections go up.
