Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No denying it, I love the cyclist. I also enjoyed his recent comments about AS and AC. Is it me, or is this bike so ugly it should come with a free bowl of soup?

The the video on his website is good for a few laughs, https://www.mcipollini.com/

Yep, it's fugly. And that video was hilarious in a long-winded sort of a way. Cipo is pretty epic...

I like it, but I can't forgive how badly you butchered that Caddyshack reference.

It looks like a generic Ebay TT frame with drop bars.

It should be like sparkly metallic...maybe gold. That would be fitting I think. And it should come with a free pair of aviators and a note saying it's not compatible with other forms of eyewear or generic jeans.

Agreed!

What, when you buy a bike like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?

Almost every carbon frame looks like the next now with only the paint job making a distinction. Obviously that wasn't going to cut it for Mario. It might look better in larger sizes because its the headtube/downtube area that really has style issues.

I think the fellow is missing one part of his genitalia. Much of the dialog makes really very little sense if you have some degree of self esteem. That said - what's macho about the bike other than it's black and slightly bulbous?

I like the bike. IMO, looks pretty nice compared to most the bikes posted here. As far as macho, I'd be more likely to respect Zabel's words. The guy was a sprinter too but had the balls to do the mountain stages and hang in there long enough to finish the tours!

Made in Italy and coming from Mario C, one would think it comes with Campy.

I like people who say what they mean, and are interesting. Cipollini is one of these people.

He didn't get the memo on cliches, and I am glad for it.

I love that bike. How awesome would it be to have your own R & D department. I'd have all sorts of crazy crap coming outta there. He's gotta have a bike that doesn't look like the norm, because he's Cipo. He should paint muscles on it or something.

IMO it's you.

The only fugly thing about that bike is Shimano's horrible-looking DA crankset. They just keep getting uglier. And now Ultegra looks crap, too.

...Although I see the carbon one is an improvement... great to see a proper big ring again instead of that other mess.

...Actually, come to think of it, the downtube looks a bit wrong where it's kinda pinched-off under the top tube... would prolly look better on bigger frames with a longer head tube. But aside from that it's pure sex.
