Question about a carbon bike I purchased

stole your bike
I love the levels of riduculous you find here.
retreiever7: Have you tried contacting the company to determine whether the CF used is the one advertised on the bike or if it was incorrectly marked? I would go that route if the shop isn't helpful. The "Made In..." is very misleading and something consumers need to be aware of because it doesn't mean what's implied, most of us assume it means the frame was made in the country on the label. A bike company can place the "Made In..." sticker if 80% (if I'm not mistaken) of the bike's value is assembled in the country listed, so "Made in Italy" means the frame can be of foreign origin but since the components are assembled in Italy then it is not considered false advertising.
The romanticism of "cycling heritage" is a bit silly nowadays since the bottom line is high quality frames are being designed in Asia and have been for quite some time. The days of some Italian craftsman welding your frame together are gone for the mainstream consumer and what should be more relevant is whether what you're purchasing is the quality you're expecting at a certain price point. I don't mind frames being made in Taiwan and China at all and have been happy with the ones I own, the fact an established bike company puts it's name on it gives me a bit more assurance that they're not selling junk since their brand is on it.

Yeah, how dare you log into BF and think someone can tell you something about a bike. And furthermore, I can't believe you're wanting to know what you're riding and what you paid for; consumers are supposed to be dumb and not know what they are getting. You act as if people on BF care about inconsequential things like: bike weight, components, frame materials, paint finish, power stats, road grades, kits, helmet venting, sunglass glare - no one on BF would EVER want to talk about any of this. now just ride and stop prissing about.

He paid for the lesser bike and and, and the very least, he got what he paid for. If he had paid for the better frame, but received the lesser, then I could see a point, but that's not where we're at. There are some indications that he may have gotten a better frame than he paid for, but what of it? Is it going to ride any differently from yesterday, before he saw the sticker? No, of course not. This, coupled with the coyness about the make/model of the bike, is the very definition of prissing about.

op should be pleased. i guess he is asking for confirmation that his pleasant surprise is justified. i once received a more expensive chain than the one i ordered. i called them up and they said just keep it. i was pleased.

Checking out the bike doesn't speak to the issue. It has to do with knowing what grade of carbon the frame is made of? Thanks for your question

Yes, but mentioning the brand might get the attention and responses from owners.

use the serial # on the frame, which should track it to the mfr and mfr-ing lot. ask the owner of the shop from which you purchased to contact their customer service rep and ask them to find out specifics on your frame.

Whatever you do, the frame will crack when you will torque it because they have Taiwanese nanobots they put into carbon layers to make them crack while you torque and they don't offer warranty replacement because you misused the frame.

no, he said the owner didnt seem to have any interest. i've interpreted this to mean by implication that the op didnt ask, but rather perceived it from indifferent responses to his questions.
i'm assuming this is a recent purchase. following up by walking into the shop with a legitimate question to satisfy his/her curiosity is the appropriate course of action.

Thanks. I did contact the company. No response as of yet.
It's been hard for me to get my arms around the fact that Italian bikes are made in Asia. In a note to another responder, I mentioned that I had test rode a Bianchi Infinito. The frame was clearly labelled Made in Italy. The bike was manufactured in Asia. I didn't buy it. I understand this is a personal issue and that some fine bikes are made in Asia. Since this is my first carbon frame, where it was made seemed less important than seeing how carbon measures against steel as a material for cycling. I've been riding steel all my life.
Thanks again for your note.

You're correct. The owner did not pursue my question beyond identifying the fact that identical models in his store were labelled in precisely the same way.
