Rain in so cal
Anybody else hate the rain that we're having in so cal, south o.c. To be specific.?
|
Yeah it sucks, it kind of came at a good time for me though since i got sick when the rain started last week so i probably wouldn't even have ridden if it was sunny.
|
yea, hate this ****, but its better than most have it
|
Considering the beautiful weather we are going to get Thursday-Saturday and considering what's happening in the Northern, Central and Eastern parts of the country I don't think we're going to get too much sympathy for a little bit of fairly warm water.
|
Yeah, time to cross train with running I guess. Three weeks of winter break, next week I'm gone and this week we're all rained out. Le sigh.
|
I've decided to brave it tomorrow. It will be my first ride on the new bike. I'm tired of looking at it in the living room.
|
Oh, the horror! It's raining in SoCal!!
|
Starting thurday it's going to be 62 and sunny for a week.....Yeap I'm feeling terrible for you..I sould see that average, in lets say 3 months!
|
In the past, oh, about... 2 months, there hasn't been a single day where the ground was dry. Its been raining, about to rain, or just finished raining non stop.
|
I know I know we are spoiled and we do need the rain... but I am tired of it. Please stop!
Rain rain go away Come back another day |
Tell me about it. I might have to change plans and buy a roller for myself for Christmas LOL. Love the rain but a week of rain is just too much here in SoCal. Looking forward to the dry spell by Xmas time.

As for the weather, I'm pretty much miserable right now. I'm off until after New Years and have yet to get a ride in. We're due to get rain until tomorrow and then dry out for a few days only to get hit again next week. Not exactly what most of us down in SoCal are used to, but we're a tough bunch. We'll suffer along and find something else to do. FWIW, I would HTFU but being made of sugar and all, I'm sure I would melt. |
I'm flying to San Diego for a week of riding between Christmas and New Years, so I'm crossing my fingers for a break in the weather. Starting to think a ski vacation would have been a better call than a bike vacation.

What is thing you call a "jacket"? Never heard of it.
2. An outer covering or casing, especially: a. The skin of a potato. b. The dust jacket of a book or phonograph record. c. An insulation covering for a steam pipe, wire, boiler, or similar part. d. An open envelope or folder for filing papers. e. The outer metal shell or case of a bullet. Why would I want to wear the skin of a potato? |

Me too! 40+ degrees (I'll be in Santa Cruz first) sounds lovely to me right now, and since I appear to be waterproof I'm looking forward to it.

OH! Santa Cruz is my old home town. Any chance you are doing the SD hostel's Xmas trip? That would be weird....
Nope, I'll just be visiting family and am bringing my bike with me. |

Cool! San Diego is mine:) Any suggestions for good routes in Santa Cruz (or SD for that matter since I've never ridden there)?

Five straight days now. It's not the jacket or booties or leg warmers or arm warmers or full finger gloves that stop me. It's cleaning my beautiful bike after a simple ride! Screw that crap!
I went the first day of the rain for 25 miles. Road down to the Back Bay and back. Bike was filthy. Dirt and mud splattered everywhere. Chain a mess. Brakes a mess. Wheels and spokes a mess. So I put it on the bike stand, took the wheels off and proceded to clean the bike for the next 40 minutes. Last time I'm doing that. We're blessed (cursed) with like 10 days of rain a year down here. Oddly, 6 of them were in a row and the infrastructure is ill-equipped to support drainage for such once-every-decade storms. I don't care if it's 2 degrees where you live. I don't care if it rained every day for the past 6 months where you live. I don't care if you ride a mountain bike in 9 inches of snow with windshield wipers on your glasses. I live where I live because I don't have to do all that **** every time I want to go for a ride and I damn well won't apologize for it. I'm proud of it. To me it's like watching those survival idiots on TV. Oh, you can take a rancid three-week old carcass of a jackelope and actually eat the stomach contents? Oh, great. Glad for you. Fun to watch. But you can find me at Ruth's Chris discussing your idiocy with my fellow weather-weenie friends. |
I've been off the bike for six whole days now.
|
You know, they should really start a regional subforum so the pansies in so-cal can whine about rain and temperatures in the sixties. Oh wait, we already have one of those.
