Need a felt helmet pad - any DIY fixes?
My trusty 3 year old bike helmet is doing well, but on a ride today, I managed to lose one of the felt pads that lines the top/forehead area. (GIRO helmet.)
Unfortunately, now I've got 3 sharp velcro-lined regions scraping my forehead where the felt used to cover.
I lost the accessory felt pads quite awhile back during multiple moves.
Any solutions / DIY ideas to replace the felt?

I might be overcautious, but since it is a safety item, I wouldn't accept anything but what the manufacturer designed for it. As mentioned above, enjoy the free replacements. I have to pay for mine (Specialized) and my acidic sweat makes me buy a new one every 12-15 months!

In short, you'll be fine using a makeshift foam pad.

I just bought some "headliner" fabric down at Joanne's fabric. Same stuff. It doesn't have the fancy mesh that usually falls off anyway. It sticks fine to the velcro. Got enough for the rest of my life. $7 for 1/2 a yard.

Do you only have the one? We have about 6 and I know for sure 2 of them keep left over pads when they sell/fit helmets. I go in and get some every time I need new ones.

I like this. We can rebuild it, make it better, faster, stronger. This response fulfils the requirements of a DIY request.

i got Giro replacement pads on ebay. Better than the originals. They were around $10.

I had to order my pair for a LBS.
Mine were for a Giro Prolight, the pads had some sort of silver X static stuff in it that prevent order, & less bacteria. (So they say)
Cost me $10 & I had to 6-8 weeks, cause some idiot messed up the order.

I cut some old jeans up into strips and glued them in. Looks like a hippy helmet inside.
