Kill me now, please
I took my back up wheels out for a spin today, set of Mavic vanilla rims that I just bought for next to nothing and picked up this morning at my LBS, they were OEM on my Orbea and the shop just had them lying around, I knew they would serve a good purpose for bad weather and winter training and then...after I finished the ride I noticed the following...
THE PLASTIC SPOKE PROTECTOR WAS STILL ON THE WHEEL!!!!!! I may never ride again...I actually left the house with that THING on the bike.... What can I do to limit my losses? What would you do if you were me? Any advice would be appreciated Z He hate he |
Go find a pair of pliers, it doesn't matter if they're cheapos, slip joint, or needle nose, and break that sucka off.

My advice is to get over it. Nobody cares. You people are pathetic.
|
I think the important thing here is to stay calm.
Remember, bad things happen to good people. Did anybody see you? Couldn't you feel it back there? If you can pull yourself together, GO CUT IT OFF!!! |

I didn't know it was there, but when I got done with the ride, I looked down and all of a sudden I was wearing Tan shorts, Keds, and a striped button down shirt... The Scary thing is that I started the ride in full Santini!!!!!! |

Leave it on and just put a bag over your head while riding.

At least one guy saw me...or maybe two...but what about all those people in cars...oh God, I didn;t think about them...
What if 53-11 saw me? |

53-11 was going so fast, you were just a blur. I'm sure he couldn't have recognized you in the nanosecond that it took him to blast past you.
|
You think that's bad, today I rode with a guy who not only had a spoke protector, but the thing was no longer centered on the hub and went around all wobbly-like. I watched for about an hour before I was hypnotized and ran off the road...

Bad news......
Looks like the photos have already leaked. http://webpages.charter.net/neobinary/photbicycle.jpg |
Alright... confession time. I still have my dork-disc on my wheel. However, it's pretty small and secure on there so it's not easily seen and has no danger of falling off and becoming litter. You can't even see it from the driveside and it's barely noticable from the other. OTOH, even it's supposedly intended function is negated because it's smaller than my largest rear cog.
