Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2004 Trek 2300 double

I am relatively new to cycling. After a year of riding a Trek 7.2FX, I reallized that I had bought a really heavy bike with cheap components - sturdy overall but not what I really wanted. I decided to switch to a true road configuration and have found a nice 2004 Trek 2300 double at a price of $700. The bike has been ridden, no question about that. But, there is not a mark on it and it comes with a new set of tires that have never been mounted. The rear hub has been changed out to a 12-27 and the original 12-25 hub also comes with it. The component set is all Ultegra. The components have some use on them, but overall the bike appears to be well maintained. I have explored the triple vs. double question and have decided that the douoble will work. If not, I"ll change it out. the frame fits me like a glove.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the pricing. Thanks very much.
