Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bay Area Cyclists - Veloro Bicycles

I will be going to this bike shop this Saturday. I was originally trying to find out info on Cycle Path in San Mateo since we always pass by there when we sing at church (St. Greg's) every 3rd Sunday of the month. I found some good info on the previous owner which now co-owns Veloro. I even went to Yelp! and read nothing but good on Gebhart. I called and talked to him personally and seems to be a down to earth kinda guy. So for now, I'm at ease and willing to drive to Redwood City. However, I would like to know for any Bay Area residents who have been to Veloro and/or have had experience with Gebhart to add on as far as pros and cons. It's too good to believe that all I read are nothing but pros. Or is he really a gift from biking heaven as what I've read from everyone else?

You should try Cupertino bike shop. They have a lot of italian bikes. Also, chain reaction and Mike's bikes. Both shops have great selection of road bikes too.

Yes, I've been to those and a whole lotta others as well. I'm just doing a lot of shopping around right now. Some of the shops I've been to don't have the size or willing pre-measure me before the test ride. When I talked to Gebhart, he really treated me like a person and not like another "possible customer". His ways of dealing with his customers are pretty extraordinary compared to what I have gone through these past few months. Let's just put it this way, one of the things I liked was when he said, "there is no obligation to you."
