For one of these. I'm considering buying it. Thanks
I gather the CAAD5s were decent frames? No reliability issues?
Is this a 2004?

The 4 and 5 had the same geometry. The biggest difference was that the 5 was the first integrated headset frame for Cannondale. No issues. It was a pro frame as your photo shows. The bike before it the CAAD4 was the first "hourglass seat stay" bike. Probably a 2001 if I recall. The chart I linked has a 2006 on it, but that was from the archive, not the frame date. If you are in possession of the frame you can check the serial number. Here's how to read it:

There was a short lived CAAD6 then the really lightened up the frame with the Optimo CAAD7.

I found what I think is a track chart, which says the 56 has a 168mm head tube; what does this mean?

This link has the 2005 geometry. Would it be the same?

FWIW...the CAAD5 was a pro race frame. It's not the club rider geometry. That said, you can always fool with stem and bars to make it more upright for your back.
Understand that back in the 2001 era, Cannondale's bikes were all pro race frames. They raced the 4, then went integrated headset, still sold the 4 at a reduced price, then came the 6 and 7, still sold the 5 at a reduced price, then the Six 13, still sold the 7 at a reduced price. It was not until the Synpase that they started making upright geometries with more plush rear stay setups.

The CAAD5 pictured looks just like my '99 CAAD4 except mine does not have the integrated style headset. I don't think that Cannondale has changed their geometries much if at all over the years. My CAAD4 and my CAAD9 56cm bikes both have headtubes right around 15cm +/- a couple of mm's.

I ride a 60 Super Six HM...the CAAD8 you show in a 60 is 19.2, my bike's a 19.0...now they don't make a 60 in the new CAAD8, but the head tube in the 61 is 20. My 60 CAAD9 is also a 19.
It looks like there is plenty of steering tube there to allow a less aggressive setup.

Thanks for the further replies, 'Warrior' and Bluechip. The seller just got back to me and said that the head tube is 155mm, which is a little small for me. I suppose I could ride around with a bunch of spacers, but I'd rather wait for a 57 or 58 to pop up of Aussie Ebay.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
