Felt AR1 frameset: two reflections on internal routing

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Felt AR1 frameset: two reflections on internal routing

I was initially very psyched for my AR1 frameset with the internal routing.
The cables and housings go all the way through the frame.
Last night I swapped handlebars, which required me to pull the cables out of the housings completely.

2 things:

The AR1 frame lacks a barrel adjuster for the front DR. I dont know if there's an alternative way to do this, but it's annoying.

Second, I should have threaded the cables through before the housings, not after. Pushing the cables through the housings after they were in the frame, I think, caused the internal lining to get more chewed up than it needed to be.

Internal routing isn't a big draw for me and I especially didn't like it when I test rode the Cervelo Soloist (aluminum version) because the noise was pretty annoying.

My old Flyte had an internally-routed rear brake cable that rattled like hell. Sounded like shaking a can of spray paint. All the more reason to listen to music on the bike. Also, I couldn't thread the cable through to save my life. The few times it needed to be done, my wife had to do it for me. Her--"Why in hell did you take that out?! Didn't I tell you to leave it alone?!" Me--"You're right. I'm sorry."

Or is it because your frame is carbon instead of aluminum?

Why the need to remove the housing from the frame to change handlebars?

because the handlebars had internal routing too. so there was no way to get the shifters off without pulling the cables out.

I like the internal routing on my kestrel. the housings are not used inside. the only issue I had was I had no way of telling if my deraileur cables were crossed inside my down tube. I still dont know for sure but I pulled one out and while the other one was tightened I fed it back in. I feel pretty confident they are correct.

Bah, you weren't riding fast enough!

I own one, it's not so bad.

maybe i'm completely misreading this but cant you just figure it out by shifting? seems like an easy way to make sure you go it right....
