Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

picture of Gunnar Sport frame 58cm?

Hi,

I am preparing to order a Gunnar Sport frame in a 58cm size and was wondering if any
here can please provide me with a picture of this frame size 58cm??

The reason is because I see pictures of some Sports with short head tubes, and some
with very large, goofy looking head tubes, so I really wanna know what the stock 58cm
size looks like!

Im hoping its an average size head tube, not too short and not too large, like a geek bike!

Thanks

After looking at Gunnar's website, I see the headtube length for the Gunnar Sport 58cm size is 176mm. That seems to be bit a bit taller that other brands for the same size.
This longer head tube length may be a bit too tall for my liking....bordering on a geeky look!

Anyone else notice that about the Gunnar Sport head tube lengths??

^^That's a good looking bike!

Not a Gunnar Sport, but my Soma Smoothie also has the same thing going on with a lot of extra head tube protruding past the ht-tt joint. I think it's so that you don't have as many spacers between your headset and your stem, because at some point it starts acting like a big lever. pic of my 58cm smoothie (effective tt 57cm c-c) with a 172mm head tube:
IMO it doesn't look too wildly disproportionate

Don't forget to add another 30mm or so for the external headset. With that said, I doubt the head tube will be too tall for you, unless you are very flexible. If you think it is too tall, take out all the spacers and put a -17 degree stem on it; problem solved. Plus it will look "pro" (it sounds like you are more worried about looks than fit).

If you want a "race" geometry, go with the Roadie.

For what it's worth, I have 40mm of spacers and a Ritchey 8 degree stem in the positive and I still have a 1" saddle-to-bar drop.
I'm thinking about flipping the stem which will extend my reach and give me a 2" saddle-to-bar drop, which is equivalent to what I have on my Allez. I wouldn't think you'd have any problem making it racy if you wanted. Enjoy the Gunnar.

Perfect!!
If the 58cm size looks close to the head tube look of your 56cm , this is totally acceptable and great looking to me!
