Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your saddle looks way too high. Your hips are rocking back and forth while you pedal. Have you had a proper bike fitting?

Agreed, looks like he is reaching to make the pedalstroke, he seems to be fairly toe down because of it. However, there are a few in my club who look like that and yet do not have any pain or problems, so maybe it's okay for him. I know I'd need a new back after that much rocking.

That side looks more fun to descend than the west side, which is too steep to really get some speed on unless you want to end up in the ocean.

thanks for the tip. i just installed new 3t stem+seatpost+handlebar. I'm waiting to adjust before I get a full fit.

Here's a clip of the west side descent. contour ran out of battery mid descent.

I'm heavier than that (225 lbs) and have ridden the S4.0 and S3.0 wide with no issue. You will have no problem on the S3.0.

I'm right at 190 and haven't had any issues on either set of 2.0SL's I've used.

Sean lists 210lbs as the weight limit for most of his wheels, and I'd have faith in that.

Just received my custom S3.0 SL's last week (Custom really only the white hubs and white decals, but also grabbed titanium skewers and souls velo-plugs).
Pretty quick turnaround in the end of about 4 weeks. Yet to ride them, so will have to update later.

Someone was asking awhile back how the S4.0's rode in the wind. I've ridden them on a few windy days, but nothing like last night. 32mph gusts and 18mph sustained winds. I did a group ride and while the wind wasn't at our backs the entire time, it remained a fast ride. I was surprised how well the Soul wheels did. There were only a few times where the wind caught my wheel and I could really feel it. I use my S4.0's as my primary wheelset and couldn't be any happier. I haven't had a chance to do any climbing with them, but that should change here in the next month when I visit Virginia.

Has anyone talked with Sean to see if he is getting on the 23mm rim fad? I will have new wheel set by the end of the year, and I really like the CA5.0. But a 23mm rim would push me over the top.

Last I heard he was already selling wider alu wheelsets although they aren't on the site. The C5.0 is already 21mm (vs. 20mm for the CA5.0), but I guess that doesn't really count as wide these days.

A full carbon wheel will not work for me. I see that most Alum rims listed as 19mm the CA 5.0 are 20mm.
I have read that in other posts, I was just wondering if anyone else asked before I sent an email.

Yes I believe all of his new wheels will be moving to 23mm. It has been quite a while since I've SMS chatted with Sean but the last time I did his plan was to have a new CA5.0 in 2012 with a wider width and a black coating on the brake track so it would be a unified black look rather than the black faring and silver brake track.

Edit: yea new stuff is coming...and is 23mm wide...I'm chatting with Sean currently.

You probably aren't talking to him now but if you are could you ask him to post some teasers in the 41? I'm sure we'd all be interested to know what's in the works.

I'd be interested in a wide S2.0SL with a black brake track but I'm not sure that will ever happen.

I'm not SURE it's going to happen either...but like Mazdatech10 said he is working on it. So there is your teaser...sorry no photos.

I'm certainly glad he's making the move to a wider rim like Boyd's.. Even the weight weenie guys have sourced the rim itself on some new builds. This'll help balance out the competition for sure (and wreak more havoc on the decision making process for on-the-fence guys like me!).

The specs of the Boyds rim and the KinLin Cyclocross rim sold at BHS apear the same...and it is different than the new Soul ~30mm rim. I say ~30mm because the Boyds are 28mm and the Soul are XXmm. SOrry I can't give more details other than to say it isn't the same rim...I know that for sure.
