Yep, front shifter. These barends are fatter than road bars so I had to sand them down quite a bit. Tomorrow I'll sand down the other one and transfer the rear brake lever and shifter. After work maybe I'll even hit the shortest MTB trail ever.

Let's see...in the last several days we've heard about:
Are you training too? Cuz with all that new stuff, you're eliminating excuses for not getting faster!
- New wetsuit
- New wheels
- New TT helmet

At least she'll look good on the MUP.

Look. It's too late in the day to eat again. Don't tempt me with thoughts of BBQ anymore.

Dusting of snow this morning. Could be a few inches later. That might make this the 3rd snowiest season on record.

In other news, the cardinals that nest near our place are back. They are currently hanging out in the apple tree.

When we moved into our new house a few years back, we thought it would be wonderful to have a lot of birds around. So we set up a couple feeders. The birds came. Then Dusty the Merciless started hiding in the grass and killing them as they flew around. And then he killed the babies that fell out of the nests.
That was the end of the bird feeders.

We're on the third floor and we had a feeder on our terrace a couple years ago - cardinals, blue jays, etc, which was (for me) a pleasant surprise, in the middle of Brooklyn. Got the cats a little worked up, but that wasn't so bad. Unfortunately, towards the end of the summer, some squirrels discovered the feeder and started scaling the stucco-ish wall to get at it - the dog has a thing for squirrels, like most dogs. The first time she went bonkers and nearly toppled one of my beloved speakers, the feeder came down.

I would rather have the birds than the cat.
Along those lines, we had to get rid of the feeders in the back yard. The squirrels would get at them, and while they were there, they would taunt the dogs. Barking, the occasional dead squirrel, and sometimes baby birds that were rejected. All reasons to remove the feeders.
