Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had the same build in mind for the longest time since the Rossetti Vertigo got me salivating for a long time now. I was going to pull the trigger on those but I just don't agree with their return/warranty policies. The Vertigo is so sexy (w/ Rossetti Carbon wheelset) but their policies were a deal breaker...ugh.

btw, was that frame from a group buy?
Good deal hunting skills on the components btw. I was thinking to just buy a whole gruppo to save myself some headaches but it's a long term project so I might purchase the components if only I spot a good deal on them.
I can't find the scale I used, so I will be taking it into my LBS so they can throw it on their digital. I am not trying to sound like my bike is the lightest in the world LOL I used one of those old analog scales that dangle and have a hook attached. Chances are it might have been off or not calibrated and I only weighed it once very quickly so I am not arguing with you guys that it might be more.

The frame was not from a group buy, I actually found it on Craigslist. I had no intention on building a roadbike at the time. I was actually saving up money for my MTB but it was such a killer deal and in almost brand new shape that I had to jump on it.

I thought about buying a whole gruppo but did not have the money to spend 1K+ all at once. It was a a "check to check" build but it worked out in the end though because I feel I got better components through the deals that I found here and there and eventually got better stuff. Also, to be honest again I didn't really wait too long for deals. All it took was searching and using the right websites. None of it was from ebay I can say that, I'm not a fan of using ebay. Buying a couple parts every week ended up helping because all the big websites go through cycles in their sales schedule so I would just buy what I needed when it was on sale...if that particular part wasn't, something else was so I would get that instead and wait for the next week. Overall though, I think I got plenty of bike for the money.

My imaginary build would've cost about $200 more. A full FORCE group ranges from $800-950 on EBAY. You did $735 (albeit the Rival breaks) which was excellent. You saved some good coin on the frame as well.

I was thinking of getting a china frame on EBAY which would cost me $550-600(everything included, even a damn carbon seat which will probably bruise my bum), another $400 for SOUL wheels and another $900 for a full FORCE group. Just about the same, + - $200 including having it built.

I don't know if I should proceed with the build considering I'm dealing with a China frame. They only offer a year warranty and that's my greatest concern. I had a business deal gone bad (not cycling related) with some Chinese seller before and it was a nightmare dealing with them.

btw, how much did the shop charge you?

Cool bike, this thread actually made me read through all 7 pages. Awesome bike, love how it looks. I myself plan to build my own bike probably in the 1000 dollar range when I start earning money. Probably will build a road bike up but thought of putting a single speed drive train on it =P but road bike light with a real high gear on it.

Did you ever get it to the shop to weigh it? Either way, the bike looks good.
