Going to be pushing 100º all week, but the heat is fine. It's the smoke form the damn fire. Post-commute this morning, smelled like I walked through a campfire.

Cocar, are you a surgeon or a surgical nurse? Just wondering cause your avatar looks like you are in scrubs and a gown/mask. No rain here, just a lot of wind, riding this afternoon regardless so another turkey out in the tropical weather besides you. Ride safe.

Okay I read your profile, a veterinarian, that is pretty cool too.

Yeah, I'm a veterinary orthopod. Occasionally I get called in on some advanced soft tissue stuff no one else wants to tackle, but 95% of it's ortho.

I confess that the TdF is the most confusing sporting event I've ever tried to watch, and I'm not sports stupid. I will probably have to order a book to help me figure it out.

Even with said book, I will probably be somewhat lost at any given time.

Bikegeek1968 06-25-12 08:31 PM

I have had a pretty mean flu, complete with barf and the reah. I have lost over 5 pounds in the past three days, and I am hoping to ride it out for a few more days to get down to 165 without being dehydrated.
so far so good!
bleeeeeeech!

jesspal 06-26-12 07:36 AM

I look for road bikes for my children, even though they are both under the age of 2 lol.

MDfive21 06-26-12 09:47 AM

i use bittorrent to download HD cycling coverage and it will take me until mid-september to watch every stage of the TdF.

What is so confusing about the TDF? Its a multi stage race, the guy with the fastest overall time wins. See, simple. ;)

MUP=South Platte River Trail. The Cherry Creek Trail always has a fair amount of people on it. I did 200mi last week and I rode 30mi in the 105 degree temps yesterday. HTFU!

Short arse Filipino here, making the exact same mistake you are.

My confession? I envy the kids doing those BMX tricks in the abandoned car lots more than that one guy who shows off his fancy Cervelo at the local coffee shop.

Yeah, right.

bung 06-28-12 05:58 AM

I tell non-cyclists that I despise other cyclists that run stop signs. I sometimes run stop signs. :(

MDfive21 06-28-12 06:45 AM

if i can safely cross an intersection, i go through regardless of stop signs and traffic lights.

Hey at least we don't weigh much so its perfect for cycling. I just hate it when its windy cause my 128 pounds does cut through the wind well. Lol

Jfitalia 06-28-12 08:36 AM

Oh while riding with a buddy yesterday he told me I'm useless to ride with cause I offer nothing in regards to drafting. He said he worked harder trying to draft me than if he just pulled me instead. Lol

JasonJones 06-28-12 09:08 AM

I think the 41's aversion to saddle bags is asinine. Unlike the pros, most of us do not have a dedicated sag wagon riding behind us carrying all the tools. I personally like to use my jersey pockets to carry extra water and nutrition so I do not have to stop mid ride.

Sometimes I look forward to finishing a ride just so I can have a glass of pickle juice when I get home.

I took my first KOM today by one second.

I have bought and sold 5 saddles on ebay over the last month on my quest to find the perfect saddle for me.

I make my own energy gels so I can justify spending more on other things for the bike. Some how that logic has been working with my wife.

When I first bought my wife a bike and we went riding together, I kept thinking in my head I do not ever remember being this slow. Then we went and got in the pool and she made me feel like a little girl. I never said another word about her cycling abilities.

For the first time in eight years, I am getting out of clydesdale territory.

rearviewbeer 06-28-12 10:25 AM

I only have 1 bike...

sevenmag 06-28-12 10:49 AM

I'm excited to get home and put the $10 chinese computer I ebayed on my new bike.

128? Cripes, at 5'5" and some change, I weigh 140.

Time to get back to otter-mode, I guess.

I know this is true with me too. To watch what some of those kids can do on their BMX's is just amazing...of course I wouldn't want to go through all the broken body parts to accomplish the stunts that they have, but knowing that they did makes it even more amazing.

krazygl00 06-28-12 01:28 PM

I crushed a strava KOM by 14 seconds over the now 2nd place time and 55 seconds over the now 3rd place time, but only because it is such a weird out-of-the way climb that no "real" roadies bother to ride it. As soon as one does, he is sure to squash me like the bug I am.

cocar 06-28-12 04:15 PM

+ 1 on the pickle juice

+1 on being absolutely usless to draft. I'm worse off than all you all at 5'4 and 100 lbs

I am so klutzy that I'm amazed that I haven't killed myself cycling and that I'm still here. My introduction to cycling came when I was a spectator at a crit and a cat 5 racer crashed into me as I was sitting in a lawn chair. Total damage: torn meniscus, torn cartilage requiring microfracture, and a concussion. I was supposed to be on crutches for 8 weeks. I wound up on a road bike in 3 weeks. I hadn't ridden a bike since I was 10.

I once managed to crash on a stationary trainer.

I will NEVER own rollers, as the potential death toll/injury rate to self and surrounding pets is just too high.

My nickname amongst my friends is stumblina

rearviewbeer 06-28-12 04:23 PM

I am a fairly strong rider, and am always worried I will get dropped in group rides. Sometimes I would rather just ride alone because of this fear.

I am large enough for trucks to draft of of me, that is if I could go fast enough...

I use a saddle bag.

I have brown shoes.

I tried jumping off a ramp a while ago and completely ate it in front of 6 kids.

No riding for me either. 100+ just isn't fun

My most recent cycling related purchases;

Pair of Sun Rims BFR's
KMC Z410 chain
2 new sets of pegs
NOS GT tires
NOS GT grips
2 sets Kool stop phat salmon pads
