And they meet Z87 impact standards.

I feel better now, cause I have all of those, but mine have 1.5 cheaters in them cause I'm old and don't see well. I much prefer them over my good sunglasses.

I like riding in my baggy shorts.
I still prefer riding alone
I secretly want to build a bike frame from dunnage.

Word.

And I secretly want to know what dunnage is.

I'm thinking of ordering some orange ones.

You will not be disappointed. My yellows are slightly orange and are AWESOME in low light. I often push them even when a bit too bright because I like the effect so much.

I only ride because I love drinking beer, and don't want to look like Homer Simpson.

Last week I spent way more time watching cycling on DVR than I actually rode.

I'm a woodworker too, and I love that stuff.

Hmm...

-- I'm too small for this sport. I will never have the necessary leg strength to be anything like a decent cyclist. Any time it's even slightly windy, I basically become a kite on a road bike.

--When I originally bought my bike from the LBS (first bike, road bike), I told them I knew nothing about bikes. They failed to tell me about maintaining adequate tire pressure or sell me a floor pump. So when I brought the bike back in, 2 months later for an unrelated issue, both tires had a pressure of 50. The guy asks me "are you putting air in your tires before you ride?" me "you're supposed to do that?" Entire store dies laughing. They've never let me live it down, either.

-- I cannot track stand. Oh, I've tried to learn. Several times. Every time 100%, complete FAIL.

-- I like wearing spandex. Yes, I know all you men are looking at my ass. I don't give the tiniest $hit.

-- There's a MUT in a nature preserve that I occasionlly ride on. It's a 10 mile loop. There's a list of instructions a page long, but there is no indication of which direction you're supposed to go. Clockwise? Counterclockwise? If I go out there and start riding, will someone tell me I'm going the wrong way ("wrong way, fool"), or will they just glare at me? I've ridden up there several times, and I STILL don't know which way to go...

-- I think guys with shaved legs are sexy, but I think they should be required to shave their pits, too

-- If you don't think we are checking you out in your spandex, you are LYING TO YOURSELVES, and need to do a reality check. We're just sneakier about it.

--I have a major cycling tan going on, and I'm oddly proud of it.

I had the same issue. I told them I knew nothing, had no accoutrements, etc. They sold me a $2 patch kit. When my BFF, who got me into cycling, found out she hit the roof. I don't get it - I told them I'd been given a bike, and so all of the money I had been saving for the actual bicycle was going to be used to get all the accessories.

I guess they don't like making money?

My gf is the same way. She does a lot of spinning so I bought her a road bike to ride with me. If it's not calm she can't keep up at 15mph. If it's calm she can easily but I try to keep her around 15mph until she can sustain it longer.

I'll have to take some pics of the tan later today

After I purchased my first bike from a friend, I went to the LBS to purchase accessories. I walked in and said I'm looking for a water bottle cage, a floor pump, and a speedo. The guy responded with, "A speedo, huh? We're not a tri shop." At this point I realized what I had said and corrected, "No, NO, NOOO! I meant a speedometer."

sevenmag 06-23-12 12:08 PM

that is a serious cycling tan. ;)

My car is in desperate need of new shocks and a brake job. I set some money aside to take care of it. But before I had enough for all the car repairs, I bought some fenders, a saddle cover, and chainring for my commuter bike.

Jseis 06-23-12 01:06 PM

I enjoy riding behind my training partner because she's got one sweet **s.

Every slick I've had (road or MTB) I've pumped to at least 105 psi manufacturers recommendation be d****d.

I envy anybody who is younger than me.

I dream of spending $4-5k on a bike.

I want to kill people who let their dogs off leash on a MUP.

I like food, riding makes me want more food.

I was a Clydesdale, now I'm a no-name farm animal.

I spend more time on BF than riding or working on my bikes (but not nearly the amount that some of you spend).

When I reached 190, thought I looked "hot". Then walked into a LBS and saw a 130# roadie with his hot girlfriend. Debated about hanging myself with a bike chain.

No matter how I try, I fail to look cool standing around in Lycra and my Time cleats.

I looked down and saw my hairy legs and the first though was "you are a roadie wanna be".

Yeah, it's disturbing

more disturbing, I really like it, and I can't figure out why.

Most disturbing of all, I'm in Florida and it's only June. What's it going to look like at the end of August?

No, actually the most disturbing thing is that I just ate 6 tacos for lunch, and I'm still kind of hungry. Sadly, it won't matter. I've been actively trying to gain weight for a year. I eat everything possibe, lift weights, take supplements....I can't get over 100 lbs. So far I've gained two ounces. :sigh:

Hit the Nutrition forum and see if they can help. This [road forum] is the last place you want to be when discussing weight gain.

I've noticed that they're kind of sensitive about that.

@cocar: you are a sport. That back shot may be a first may be a first for the 41.

If you can build some leg strength I'll bet you could climb like an express elevator!

Jfitalia 06-23-12 04:45 PM

I spent 4 years riding a bike that was to big because I didnt want to admit that i'm a short arse italian (5'5"). I finally traded in my 52cm imola for a 49cm Tarmac apex. I am glad I finally did but my dam GF rides a 54cm! ohhh the shame
