I put DA pedals on my SR bike...

I mash the pedals and ride the tops until I see another cyclist, then it's drops and 90rpm until they're out of sight...

I'm posting in this thread when I should be out riding...

I secretly hate all of you who can actually ride outside in the winter...

One of my biggest fears is having to take a dump mid-ride. So I try to adjust my poo schedule on the days leading up to longer rides. I also try to make myself take a dump an hour before I get on the bike. Slamming a mug of peppermint tea seems to work really well for some reason.

My road bike is actually a CX (I doubt I could use a traditional road geometry, having fairly long legs and a short back)
I use a Bell Faction as my bike helmet (Honestly, the only helmet snug enough to make me feel safe. Even my full face wobbles more)
I dream of being a bicycle messenger
My current tyres weigh over two pounds, because I don't like flats (going tubeless soon so i'll be able to shed a pound at least)
I detest radial spoked wheels (basically because they always have too few spokes. I have to make my own wheels but that's ok. It's fun and I get what I want)
I would love to have a road bike with disc brakes. The idea of expensive rims wearing out makes me feel really bad. If I ever go carbon rim it's disc brakes all the way.
Can't understand "road etiquette" in everyday riding. In races yes, but if I'm riding along minding my own business, I feel that the only rules that apply are rules of the road. Mind you, normally I don't see many other "real" cyclists going the same way... That kinda says alot I think...

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

For my morning commutes, I wear whatever,,,, (because no other cyclists will see me), but when I ride home, or on my weekend rides, I wear what I considerr, "my better" stufff. That is as Fredly as it gets!

I go off-brand on my builds so when I KOM, it is usually with lesser components over higher-end.

ahsposo 06-22-12 09:09 AM

I haven't spent any money on my road bikes in over a year. Either I had a spare whatever in stock if I needed it or I fixed the old thing. No jerseys, no shoes, nothing.

Your discipline is admirable. I have already spent enough for two years, and then some.

Oddly enough, I took a few months off of this forum over the winter and spent absolutely nothing on cycling stuff.

No it isn't. It's 180 degrees from Fredly; if you want to call yourself something for this, it would be poseur. Fred doesn't give a damn, he'll drop people going up hill in flip flops and cutoff jeans.

I KOM'd two Strava segments with an absurdly hefty tailwind and I feel guilty about it. It was mostly unintentional...

Do you understand what you have done? You might get sued.

Don't sweat it, I would imgine that many folks are KOM'ing on absurdly favorable conditions.. Even the sun shines up a dogs a$$ once in a while. Own it!!

My favorite gloves are Mechanix gloves and my favorite glasses are Pyramex safety glasses.

Puma297 06-22-12 11:38 AM

I ran a stop sign last ride and got honked at by a car. It was a dick move on my part.

alexaschwanden 06-22-12 11:39 AM

I sold my alumnium road bike for a steel touring bike.

pihb 06-22-12 11:58 AM

I shop online for cycling clothes rather than bike shop because I can get better deals . I do by my heed/gel/tubes/tires/parts and maint from the bike shop so......

I ride aluminum because I enjoy the sport and don't care about owning a carbon bike. I feel riding heavy will help me ride harder to gain personal goals.

Instead of sounding like a noob, i google any questions i have bike related

I love the song Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. It gets stuck in my head for days at a time, and I don't mind.

Genaro 06-22-12 01:06 PM

I run stop stop sings on my cars now, if I don't see anyone coming. You would have thought cycling would have made me a better driver.

Seriously. One of the segments actually ends at a bunch of RR tracks and gets flagged as hazardous on occasion. I cannot see why as only a half blind nincompoop would fail to see and hear the trains.

Yup, in my area a lot of the KOM are owned by a motopacing/training company (seems like a way to get free advertising). That's fair... Anyway I welcome being "dethroned" since the KOMs were actually fairly unintended. I was just enjoying riding fast and was embarrassed when I noticed the new KOMs w/ 10-15mph differences over the 2nd place ranking. Ooops...

LOL. Me too! I love my cheapo $3-5 safety shields. They are hands down the best for complete wind/sun blocking at speed. I have multiples in clear, smoke, and yellow. Fredilicious!!
