I'm afraid to buy a new bike because my old bike will feel jealous. So, I will have to ride both bikes equally.
Inevetably I'll prefer one bike over the other. The less favored bike will figure this out on the basis of how I act on the road, and bring up the fact that I'm just "not into it anymore". When really I'm just exhausted from riding 10 times per week. Then one day when I want to just go home and take a nap, I'll notice and my favorite bike is missing her handle bars and the deraileur will be mashed in. I have a hard time even going to the LBS anymore... |

At least once each day I enter the bike room/shop in my house to sit a few minutes and look at my 9 road bikes hanging there. This visit to the room is independent of going into the room to get a bike to ride or grabbing my kit.

I've used the purchase of my new Colnago to justify buying a whole bunch of new tools, bibs, and jerseys. And I'm prety sure the wife is going to KILL me when she sees how far over budget I went ;p

I confess that I did not take the Sunday ride I said I was going to take in Machka's "Weekend exercise" thread. I feel fat.

I ride that darn ugly Pinarello and happen to like it. Entirely agree it is ugly though.

I recently had surgery and was not, per Doctors orders, to ride on the road, but I could ride the trainer.
I was riding the trainer when my wife went shopping. While she was gone, I went for a ride. I got home before she did (only by several minutes), and put the bike back on the trainer. |
Sometimes I put my spandex on, just because it feels good.

Wears Primal jerseys whenever possible.
From March-October wears MTB cycling shoes everywhere (they make my feet feel good). Just built a sweet 10 speed road bike, but prefer my Franken-Cyclo-Vbrake 9 speed. Fits like a freakin' glove. Prefers coffee over alcohol. Eats too much pizza. |

When i first got into road riding (i came from MTBdom) i needed some jerseys. I viewed riding on the roads as a gamble with death, so i bought a few BRIGHT YELLOW (read:high visibility) jerseys. At some point i started watching road bike racing on TV and came to understand the significance of the yellow jersey. I havent worn the yellow jerseys since.

Keep em' coming peeps; these last confessions are AWESOME!

For the last 10 yrs, after washing my cycling shorts (3 or 4 pair, synthetic chamois), I machine dry them. No problems w/ them afterwards whatsoever.

My Cervelo has a Tiagra component.

I'm on my last sleeve of Thin Mints and they were supposed to last me through spring...

Been seeing the thread title "You Shall All Covet the Latest Pcad Acquisition", but I still don't covet anything of his at all, nor anything in the parody/spin-off threads.
The OP wrote: "I do not covet the latest Pcad Bike Schwag Acquisition" But it should be a proclamation, not a confession. See post 148. Quite possibly the best post in the entire forum. |

I haven't ridden for the last two weeks and looked past my S5 as I'm counting down the days left (2) for my Ridley Noah Pro to arrive. |
I ride around the parking lot to round my miles up before I put the bike in the car.

I'm a brand *****.
I have a Specialized Tarmac comp, Specialized FSR XC Pro, Specialized BG Comp shoes, Specialized long and short finger gloves, Specialized carbon helmet, Specialized glasses, Specialized multi-tool, Specialized pump, Specialized bib pant, Specialized scull cap and an e-bay Saxo Bank replica kit. Roby! |
Yesterday it started to drizzle and I got more aero and rode faster because I didn't want my bike to get too wet.
I think it's guilt because I've been lusting after a new madone on the internet. |

I like mountain biking better than road cycling. Despite that, my first bike purchase (post BMX era) was a road bike because some of my friends bought road bikes. I traded that road bike in for a mountain bike a year later. Since then my wife grew fonder of road cycling, and she eventually bought one. I bought a road bike for the second time ten years after my wife purchased her's.
I think the phrase, "you don't ride hard if you don't crash" is ridiculous. I don't think I ever heard a roadie say this, but I think it is an excuse for those that are less coordinated. It's like saying you don't run fast enough if you don't trip a lot. I have mountain pedals on my road bike. I do plan to purchase some road pedals in the near future. I like riding on MUPs, and I don't get why people seem to look down at people that do. I would rather have someone look down at me for that, rather than be looking down at me on the ground after just being hit by a car. I have two road crashes, once on a BMX bike and once on a mountain bike. The incident on the BMX bike sent me over the bars. I landed on my back and slid down the road without wearing a shirt. The doctor couldn't get all the tar out as he tried to clean the rather large wound on my back. The second came after some idiot didn't check the bike lane before walking his bike into the bike lane (he had a red light). I couldn't avoid him (bike lane had curbs on both sides) and ran directly into his rear wheel. I managed to unclip, and get my feet over the bars as my momentum carried me forward. I managed to get by with scraped up hands (no gloves) and a popped tire. I guess I learned from the first incident not to land on my back. ;) I look at the ass of most woman while I am riding on the MUP even when I am with my wife. I feel less and less comfortable wearing lycra as the years pass even though my body hasn't changed much over the years. |
I am not afraid to stick my hand down my bibs to adjust my junk while riding. And, no, I do not wash my hands afterward....
