I've gained 10 lbs in the past three months of not riding much, it's cold, dark, and I have no ambition to ride. Only four months to train up for 62 mile Barry Roubaix gravel road race at the end of March. Usually registering for a race gets my motivation up. Not so this time. Hopefully the New Year will.

I peed in my shorts on purpose today because it was raining and 45 degrees out. I figured I was already soaked and this would warm me up. I also went for a specific Strava segment because I had a raging tailwind. Still did not get it.

I purposely let my chain rub the front derailleur cage sometimes just to get people to complain.

two days ago I started to take a "natural cleanse" pill (read laxative), just so I wouldn't pile on any pounds these next few days of holidays and trainer riding |

Just admitting to owning one of those is a confession in itself.. LOL J/K. How do you like it ? I want one too
Anyway, reviews talk of shoddy workmanship, breakdowns, poor warranty, etc. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I read the reviews first but a friend of mine has a couple thousand miles on his with no problems. Rides on routes that I've uploaded to it show similar averages, time, watts, etc. to the actual route ridden on the road. Back to the confessions: I like to hijack threads. :) |

Ok, maybe not. :twitchy: |
I only shoveled the snow from my drive because walking my bike in and out of the 100' driveway was hurting my mph average.
|
You know, some of the confessions as of late have become twisted and perverted.
I'm not complaining. Keep up the good work. ;) |
I enter every single Strava competition even when I'm certain I have no hope of completing the mileage.

I don't know what a Strava is and I'm too lazy to look it up! Sounds like a lot of pressure and work!

Yesterday on New Years Day, fairly early, I was riding down Pennsylvania Ave in DC. There were two marked FBI cars blocking the bike lanes. I gave them a flamboyant "WTF" gesture as I swerved past them.
Oh I also ran all but one stop light between the Capitol and the WH... |
I dropped the pack on our 10-12 mph New Years Day family ride yesterday. I was awesome! :thumb:

My Christmas tree is still up in all its splendor. I am in no rush to take it down as I like the lights at night.

After killing myself for several weeks, sprinting till I was sick, trying to break the top 10 on a very short and obscure Strava segment, I realized I was riding it in the wrong direction.

As much as I love the road bike. As much as I loved racing back when I raced for 10 yrs. As much as I love to watch the pros... watching a European pro road race DVD (Phil Liggett/Paul Sherwin commentating) can put me to sleep or have me nodding off sooo easily! Go figure!!??

Im the guys that gets mad at the bike shop mechanic if he doesnt mark my seat height before he puts it on the stand. I actually got mad at a friend who took my bike out of my truck and raised the seat so he could ride it. Thats like touching a mans woman when you mess with setup of someones bike.
I like to mock the skinny guys as they pass me and just dare them to say something..... I say its about time you caught up to me I have been slowing down for the last 10 miles. (blank stare from the rider) I like to help the guy catch on to a faster group by saying get on my wheel Ill pull you up and just slow down even more. |
I've never been fitted, and I'm 90% sure that's the reason I haven't been able to find a comfortable saddle after going through 15 or so in the last 3 years. It's cheaper to do 1 $150 fitting and ride comfortably than buy and sell $100+ saddles over and over, but I guess I'm a slow learner.
I don't shave my legs. Works just fine in the winter when I'm in leg warmers, but it definitely makes people more wary around me in summertime crits. I run stop signs when there aren't any cars or pedestrians around and I'm solo, even though I interned for the city's bike planning coordinator and I try to be a model cyclist when in a group. I regularly check the average speed of my friend's rides and feel satisfaction when it's below mine on the same route, even though I know they may be on a different training regime. I gained 8 lbs or so over the holidays, and I'm struggling to lose it before I go to a team training camp in the mountains in 2 weeks when it'll really hurt. I rant against d-bag judgemental roadies all the time, but at heart I'm one of them too when I judge other people's stem angles, wheels, cadence, or whatever. Phew, got that off my chest, back to being mediocre. |
