Unknown noise out of the saddle

Unknown noise out of the saddle
Ok when climbing (usually out of the saddle) I would here a little creak in my crank on the right side. It never was anything very loud or unusual, but I rode in the rain yesterday and today it sounded awful like my crank was about to fall apart. What could be causing this sound? Its kinda a creaking sound or almost cracking at the bottom of each pedal stroke on the right side.

it's usually really hard to tell where those sounds are coming from. could be pedals, crank, headset...i had something similar recently, took it to my LBS, and they told me the headset was really dry. they greased it up and the noise went away. now i'm getting creaking in the saddle, and i think it's the seatpost, so i put some carbon paste on and we'll see tomorrow.
bottom line: could be a lot of things. i would either grease everything or take it to your LBS.

NOOOOO
a LBS will charge you for that.
With some tools, a tube of grease and a sandwich baggy you can do it yourself.
Get the seatpost and saddle off bike
Get grease, general grease in a tub at any automotive shop. Best if you can find waterproof boat grease. But $3 a pound
Take saddle off
Take apart seat post, lay on grease lightly
reassemble
place back on bike
no sounds

Also, to baggy is to stuff the grease into the bag, cut the corner very small, and squeeze from the other end so you can directly put into hubs, headsets, or anything small.
Keep the baggy of grease, is a baggy to keep the grease off of everything

The first time I posted, I think, on BF was to ask a question about a squeak with my new bike. I had several answers, and one stuck with me: no matter where you think a noise is coming from, it's liable to be from somewhere else. Often enough, that seems true.
I learned one other good lesson from a mechanic my LBS: systematicaly check to see that everything is tightened properly on the bike. The first place to start: the front skewer.

I had a bad groaning noise the other day, always when pedaling hard, always on the downstroke on the left side. Uh oh, I'm thinking, a crank/BB problem.
Nope, the saddle clamp wasn't tight enough and it was just the way my butt pushed the saddle when pedaling like that.
