Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yep. If it's paved, it only gets to 10% or so, but the gravel around here they take straight up the hills. I've had my GPS report over 20%, but usually it does not get that crazy unless it is a dirt track in a farm field.

From: Downtown Phoenix

Bikes: BMC RoadRacer SL01, Kona Kula FrankensteinDeluxe, Schwinn Powerglide.

That doesn't even compute with me. There are mountains here with less of an incline than that.

I think there are rules for paved roads. One of the hills I do is paved halfway, it is an easy 10% (yes 10% seems easy now) and then it turns to gravel and gets serious about getting to the top.
