No but that time is still my personal best on that course. 26:40 or so. Winning time in the 45+ was 22 something. Whatever. It would take you 40 minutes on a good day.

does that include my mid ride sandwich?

That's nice.

But what we need here is a proctologist.

Where's my free medical advice/41 Internet diagnosis? This condition is very painful. But I do think it is acid reflux again. Nobody thought it was five years ago because of the location of the pain (upper right abdomen wrapping around to the back). But in the end they conceded that yes, those symptoms could indeed be acid reflux, and in the end they appeared to be (since the condition at the time responded so rapidly to the acid reflux meds). Hope it's the same this time around. I mean it's so bad I can't sleep, cough, bend over, etc. etc. But it does feel notably better this AM after a Prilosec yesterday @ 5PM and another one this AM @ 8AM. And I don't have any of the other symptoms associated with gall bladder (low grade fever, yellowing of the skin/eyes, etc.).

Like I said, either it's much better by Monday or off to the doctor I go.

patentcad 06-04-11 07:08 AM

I've been under a lot of stress over the past six months too.

Did lots of that too. Many a patient I can recognize better by their rear ends.

Okay, but don't sue me if I am wrong.
RUQ pain would most likely be gallstones, If Ultrasound negative get a HIDA scan. Ifr these have been done and it is like prior episodes of reflux, then obviously reflux is the likely culprit. If it is not responding to the prilosec, you may have coexisting H. Pylori infection which would require antibiotics in addition to the H2 blockers ( prilosec)
Couple of ancillary things.
1) do not eat anything for 5 hours before bedtime.
2) No fatty or greasy food.
3) No alcohol
4) Avoid carbonated beverages.
5) No chocolate or mints.
6) Raise the head of your bed up on 6 inch blocks if the above does not work
7)obviously-avoid spicy food, acidic food like orange juice, tomato products.
If you are taking OTC prilosec, your not getting enough.
Take 40 mg prilosec in am and in pm. You can also supplement this with antacids like tums as needed.
If it persists despite all this you need an upper endoscopy to r/o other causes.

Hope this helps, and oh, did I mention ....no sex for six months.

If it is gall bladder disease it will not get better with Prilosec.

It's all unfolding. Patentcad has IBS and biliary dyskinesia, and his back pain is all from fibromyalgia. He's all yours. :D

On a more serious note, pcad, there's something odd about the pain. Pain from an ulcer shouldn't be radiating around to the back or flank. I'd absolutely get an EGD and ultrasound and probably a CT if the ultrasound doesn't nail down a diagnosis. It might be paranoid, but pain going to the back suggests more pancreas/bile duct issues. I mean, it probably is just regular old PUD, but when symptoms are out of the ordinary it's always good to cast a wider net.

This I know. Now I have a 99.8º fever. That points to gall bladder. Off to the ER. I need this like a hole in my friggin head. Oh well.

I'm going to wager that you have stones in your gallbladder and, if you're still having pain by the time you get your ultrasound, a stone in your common bile duct. I think the Prilosec is the red herring--most gallstones will pass within 12-24h, so it'll "get better" while taking prilosec. Kinda fits with the pain you had 5 years ago.

Make sure they get a right upper quadrant ultrasound and check your liver function tests, amylase, and lipase. Hope you're back and posting soon.

Spiduhman 06-04-11 03:00 PM

No worry, lots of gall...

...seriously, take care Mr. Cad, hope you're back on the pedalMeds soon.

There are no doctors at the Chester General Hospital ER?

I have no formal medical training.

Let's put it this way: the next time I go to the Orange Regional Med Center ER, it will be with a bullet in my head, and with any luck I'll be DOA.

rjones28 06-04-11 08:56 PM

Do we want to know what Plan B is?

Seriously though, best of luck finding a responsible health care provider before things get any worse.

Velo Vol 06-04-11 09:18 PM

If you were identifiable as a Mets fan than a do not resuscitate hospital policy is clearly the most humane.

I was trying to make him feel better, by repeating his jokes.
