You'll miss me when I'm gone
But I'm not quite dead yet. I'm in Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, NY. Private room, hot nurse. Blood clots in lungs. Related to the peripheral edema I've had in my lower right leg for a few weeks.
3-5 days. Blood thinners. I hope that is all.
I should get some HTFU respect for riding up and down hills in the O.C. with blood clots in both lungs. Yes, I do realize this could have killed me. But I didn't have any upper abdomen pain until about 6 days ago, and I never thought it was a lung issue. My upper g.i. specialist today pulled a House and figured it out, good on him.
I asked them what happens when they release me. They said blood thinning meds for several months. I asked them if I could ride. They said, sure just don't crash. I don't think they get this sport. Oh well. Who really does?
Visiting hours are from 10AM to 8PM. I may actually be able to get a little work done here. Good Wifi. We'll see. I'm actually feeling considerably better, both my leg and my upper ab pain, and that's before any real treatment, so that's a good sign. Hopefully once they start pumping the blood thinner meds I'll be out of here in two days. We'll see.

Holy effin ****. You are the man. Riding Mt Doom with full blown PE's.. man.. but seriously. You really are a lucky person. But in case you are on your way out can you give me the 'Daddy Pcad Approval' on my most recent bike so I can go out and ride it. I gotta have someone's approval, might as well be the big dog.
And get better soon. Seriously, take it easy. I've seen what those things will do and it's not pretty.

The oddest part is I get up this morning feeling like death. Figured I had to ride. But then I rode, and actually felt pretty good on the bike. Lungs felt a little constricted climbing Mt. Doom, but not that bad. I was shocked when the CT scan came up with the blood clots, but I guess that's why they do them. Glad my g.i. guy (Dr. Walker, actually kind of reminds me a bit of House, great sense of humor, irreverent kind of guy) was smart enough to figure this out from the symptoms. I like my pulmonary Dr. too. They are getting it together up here with health care, the offices where the specialists and large local Urgent Care are seem very impressive, well run, modern gear, etc. When that new regional med center opens August 5th it will be a huge boon to this area, it's long overdue.
This little hospital I opted for is great, they're closing it when the new larger regional hospital opens, but until then it's low key, and under used, so for now I have a large private room with a view. It's not so bad. You gotta make the best of it.

...........So, what you're trying to say here is that now you're doping.
Hay, you're not tweeting pics of yourself to any young ladies, are ya?
**best wishes for a speedy recovery, and I'm damn glad you didn't do something that would have killed yourself. Blood clots in the lung is some serious snizzle.

On the positive side, you can do reviews of hospital equipment instead of Di2 or Zipps vs Williams

Pcad, get well soon. You're the best, truly the most heroic man I've ever known. Really, you're a great guy. Fantastic, amazing, brilliant!
Now, speaking hypothetically, if you uhhh.... don't make it through this one (hypothetically), could I (hypothetically) have your scott?

Don't worry, until we solve this mortality issue of ours, then nobody will exceed your post count for eons.
Get well soon as I'm thinking you've got a good 200k miles left in tank. Though this 'no crashing' advice from the doc may want you to think about riding solo a bit less...
And no "hot nurse" pics?

We'll see.
