It will come off by itself once you are fast enough.

Is your dork disk made of carbon fiber, dimpled, and has a torroidal profile? If so, I'll buy it off you.

Isn't it against BF rules to post a close-up of any componentry below Ultegra?

Darn it! I can't get mine to burn off.
I've decided to throw the bike on the bond fire tonight at the lake. I'll get some photos. |
I think dork disks were much more common before indexed shifting. In the old days, you could push the lever too far and the chain could come off the cassette and into the spokes. I don't see the need anymore. Maybe if someone's rear dr isn't adjusted correctly but I have never had a need for a dork disk since I bought my bike five years ago.

When I bought my Blue RC8 a few years ago, it came without a dork disc. Perhaps the shop removed it knowing the buyer would demand it be removed?

Before you get kudos around here, especially with your minimal post count, you're going to need at least a multi-page thread on the subject of waving, or a rant against pricey bikes and their undeserving owners.
I assume there's a story behind the waving thread comment? |

It is a standard component if you are to buy a complete bicycle from a retailer here in the USA. Litigation and liability issues.
What standard (safety oriented) components come on a bike sold in Belgium? Police in Belgium aren't like the police in the states, there aren't typically cops sitting randomly to ticket people, that's what speed cameras everywhere are for. Cops here are here for things like setting up DUI check points and actual emergencies and not seen as a revenue source by issuing tickets. Last time I checked however, Belgium doesn't exactly have a working government |

Ah, multi page threads about dork disks don't cut it around here? Sorry. I'm new.
I assume there's a story behind the waving thread comment? Go ahead...try and start a thread that goes something like "Should I Wave To Other Roadies That I Meet On The Road" or some such insanity...go ahead... |

I assume there's a story behind the waving thread comment? Ask umd about the waving. Oh I forgot, you can't ask him, because he was banned. |
I have a mountain bike where the thing got yellow, old and cracked off. Frankly, there is a part of me that wants it back on given the number of things that can happen to the RD on a mountain bike. Maybe one of you guys can send me one of yours? (Now my road bikes, on the other hand, none of them came with them.)

Takes much more than one thread before the kudos start rolling in. Could just be beginners luck.
Ask umd about the waving. Oh I forgot, you can't ask him, because he was banned. I try searching before I start threads. I'm new here... not to the interwebs. |

What standard (safety oriented) components come on a bike sold in Belgium? Not overhere they ain't! We have those things on children's bikes and maybe women's townbikes or so. I wouldn't know ... haven't ever bought a complete bike in a shop. |

So let me get this straight... You removed the gear cluster and dork disc, painted it black, then reinstalled it?
That's Fred right there. |
The question is: are those dork discs more aero than without? ^^
And more importantly: where is the windtunnel testing data?! |
