Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Always a good coffee stop this one. La Manche in the background. Slightly off the left / east of here

Emerald Isle, NC. Big Blue 1985 Cannondale SR300, Dura Ace w/ bar end shifters. I got quite dehydrated on this ride. By week's end, day time riding was unbearable due to heat and humidity.

Me, but not my bike. It was a rental. Balestrand, Norway. It was the most beautiful ride ever, anywhere. Better than Haleakala for the scenery.

Here's a clear pic of where I was in my photo above, taken from the bike so it is not in the picture.

Managed to get one loop around Mackinac Island for trip this past week. Rental. If I was staying on the island, I could see wanting my own bike for fit and comfort. The bike was ok but the seat was terrible. Many people bring their own bikes, but that's another hassle too.
