Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sizing Shimano chains

I've always built up SRAM bikes and for that, I size chains using the big chainring-big cog (without threading through the rear derailleur) + 2 links method.

Does this work for Shimano as well? I would assume so but just wanted to check.

Thanks!

Yes

I asked that question when I started installing from Shimano to SRAM components.

Bikes: Too many.

You can do it that if you want to, but the usual way involves the blood of a virgin, and one of pcad's old socks.

Thanks.

Off to find a virgin (a task where I'm reasonably sure the journey is better the destination).

It's not hard to find a virgin...just go to your local video game seller and look for War Craft players.

When I heard the word "virgin", I always associate it with women. Never with guys. Is it just me?

No, no... same old bike (the Kaffenback). Is the build from hell. Keep forgetting minor parts. But yes, I do have a problem.

Nice problem to have. At least the online bike retailers deliver to your island, unlike the pizza guys
