Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gravity vs Dawes

Ok, so I've narrowed my search down to either the Gravity Liberty 1 or the Dawes Lightning DLX. Now I know there's a lot of support for the Liberty 1, I actually haven't heard anything about the Lightning DLX.

I've been doing a side by side comparisons to the best of my knowledge, which still isn't very much. But I am looking for a bike with microshifters, which is what has brought me to these two bikes. The sizes for each are basically what has kept me from going ahead and buying one or the other. The Dawes sizing is much clearer, in relevance to my size (6' 3") which is clearly stated in the XL size range. And the Gravity breaks it up at 6' 2" and 6' 3" and above. Now, I am a tall 6' 3" which is what worries me about size. But the biggest problem is that the Gravity Liberty 1 size L (55cm) is sold out, but that is the 6' - 6'2" range, at the same time I have been told Gravity's sizing is a little different and I should consider going a size down... Which would be that size range. I know size is a big factor in the purchase, so I figured I would throw this question into the mix and see what everyone thinks...

I would appreciate some helpful advice. I've already gone to the LBS and they helped me out measurement wise but they have a very limited selection of bikes so I didn't get one from there.

If you're 6'3'', you should be looking at a 58 or a 60.

Yeah, that's exactly what I've been thinking... Thanks for the input!

At this moment I'm leaning towards the Gravity

I would recommend the XL if you decide to go with the Liberty. I have a Gravity Comp20 (same frame as the Liberty I think) in the 55.5 size, and I'm only 6' with a 32" inseam. The frame size fits me very well, so I would be concerned about that same frame being too small for you if you're 3 inches taller than me.
