Since the Zero and Light Action pedals are essentially the same pedal, and I have both, someone in another thread asked me to compare the cleats. Can't find the thread, so I just thought I'd start a new one. I'm going through TDF withdrawl and don't have much else to post about. At the time I was only using the Light Action cleat. I then got a pair of Bont road shoes that let me mount the Zero cleats on a separate set of shoes. I have a lot of miles in both now.

Essentially the differences in the pedals are in the cleats. If you wear light action cleats with Zero pedals, it essentially is a LA pedal in functionality. Same for Zero cleats on LA pedals. Even thought SpeedPlay will say they are not compatible, I have no issues with the two being completely interchangeable so far.

LA cleats - lot more float. You have to swing the foot out farther to get it to disengage the pedal. Not as much positive feedback on the click at disengage. I have not come close to pulling out of these yet, and think they actually might be harder to clip out of because you have to swing your foot out farther. I've hammered up steep climbs, and yesterday did a full on out of the saddle, chin on the bars, snot & slobber inducing city limit sign sprint (which I won - yay me!) without remotely feeling like I was going to unclip.

Zero cleats - I prefer these. Not as much float but plenty for me. This is adjustable on the cleat I believe but the default setting is fine for me. I like the very positive feedback on when you're about to unclip.
