Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I let the LBS install them, and they indicated it was straightforward. No degradation of braking whatsoever, using them with the TRP 979 EQ calipers. Everything tucks neatly under the tape. I'm thinking maybe I should have got silver instead of black, but oh well....

At the end of the day, it's just brake cables. It's not going to improve on Dura Ace, but it is bling-ier and lighter and more expensive....

TBH I'm much more enamored with the leather bar tape...

I'm a Clydesdale so mostly hang out in that section, but found this thread in a search. Here is my black bike. Just need to get some proper pedals for it.

Got it someplace else for less than $60...so cheaper than Handlebra and made by a real leather manufacturer...

what can I say...a significant portion of the money I saved by buying cheap chinese carbon rims and not zoot high end carbon clinchers has gone into blingy accessories...

Nice! I'm not saying I wouldn't spend that much on bar tape. I would if I felt it was that nice which it sounds like it is.

If you're a weight weenie, they weigh a bit more than the plastic ones, but I think they look nice. I have a set of blue nitto ones.

I did put some thought - probably too much - into this whole bar plug thing...the Velo Orange are indeed a little porky at about 1 ounce per set...but aesthetically they work best for me...

Yeah those are 700c wheels, the bike is a bit small but it was about the largest frame I could find without going full custom. I wanted to see if I could make it work.

The bar end shifters are o.k., mostly they give me options for flat bars or putting them on the down tubes. I wasn't at all sure what type of riding I was going to do so I picked mountain build components and built as a heavy tourer...sort of in the middle.

The drops are small for my hands so some Nitto drops are coming.

Some minor upgrades. The Enduro AC bb30 kit arrived Friday; I removed the Rotor 3D+/Praxis crankset off the Ridley and its staying on the De Rosa. I finally got the De Rosa back on the road with SR 11 EPS.
