How much is too Much for a Frame?
The new Ridley Noah FB is one good looking sweet riding"theysay" bike frame at a cost of ..........$5,600 for the frame only 50 coming to the USA.
Is this a tad too much money for a frame?

Some people need expensive things to show off to their friends.

BMC Time Machine TT01 - $12,999 for the frameset.

Why would that be too much money for a frame? No doubt 50 people in the US could afford them, but if not ... then maybe the price would have to drop, or maybe the remainder would have to be shipped to a country where there are people who could afford them.

Some people just like nice things. Undoubtably a $10,000 Kia would serve the needs of most people's need to get from point A to point B, yet people still buy more than they need.
I just bought an expensive bike and I don't even have friends.

Only when it becomes a financial burden for the buyer. Otherwise, everyone is entitled to get whatever floats their boat.

Yes; some people do. It's called "keeping up with the Joneses."
Others, OTOH, simply appreciate aesthetically beautiful (to them) useful objects built with extraordinary skill and have the resources to acquire them.
"Too much" is subjective.
Exactly.

When you wonder how much is too much. I assume the initial cost is going to be more than I want. I look at replacement cost (used). If the replacement is going to hurt then I want the initial cost to be low enough where the replacement doesn't hurt anymore. GL

$1000 should be the cut off for the vast majority of riders that really don't have the legs worthy of anything better. Unless your at least at the CAT3 racing level, what you get over $1000 is mostly bling. Of course it is nice to lust after those high end frames like you would a Ferrari sports car, but you know deep down that both are a complete waste of money. The money is better put toward wheels, shoes, and comfortable clothing to keep you comfortable riding longer in all types of weather.

The same could be said of anything including food and bottled water. But if you got the money and enjoy it, why not? That's not a waste of money - a waste is spending on something you don't use.
