Even though this is a well worn thread subject (and this newbie to BF apologizes) it did bring out some damn good laughs!

Then STFU and GTFO. We're having a serious discussion here. Go ride in circles with Caloso and ride into parked cars ignoring each other. |
There is this one guy on the mup that always waves but then immediately turns his head away.

Me, I like to see other riders on the road. I smile, nod and lift a finger when we pass. Just one. amen to that! |

I'm a lot like the OP. As a cyclist, I feel special, and like to amplify that special feeling when I see another like-minded cyclist, so I always wave. If she/he waves back, I'm gratified. If she/he doesn't, I find it kind of irksome and usually turn around, follow them to a quiet and/or remote area, push them off their bike, jump on them, put my hand through their ribs, pull out their still-beating heart and wave it in their face, just to see their expression as they expire.
That's just me, though. |
Hi there...

Not waving back is just rude. Surprisingly most of them seem to be coasting or doing a wopping 14mph. So hardcore. I don't even bother to check anymore though, I give my biggest fredliest wave and then look back to where I'm going. I don't wait to see if I get a wave or a snub or the finger, I'll be friendly and will be the one to initiate it.

who cares, ride your bike...

I usually nod, raise a hand off the bars or say hey, but rarely does a roadie return the gesture in these parts nothing wrong with it just strikes me as weird that in the middle of nowhere two people cross paths with a common interest and can't acknowledge each other.

Nod or a finger, but never a wave.

I will always acknowledge other human beings who are willing to acknowledge me..That's just being civil! How much energy does it take to at the very least, give a nod, a smile, or a wave? Why should we even expend the energy to discuss something so obviously trivial? Just simply acknowledge another person's existence :thumb: - Slim :) |
Demented isn't it? Don't wave and I'll fantasize about bad things happening to you.

Sometimes the right gesture, a smile, a nod, or a wave, can bring a ray of sunshine to another person's life. For all you know, that just might be the ticket that makes that person's day.

That person might also be annoyed by it because he's at the end of a crappy day dealing with crappy people and just looking for some time alone in the saddle and not interested in being sociable with every grinning idiot on a bike. You just don't know. I realize it's hard but try to comprehend that not everyone is just like you.
It's OK to be nice to people. |

I have this odd desire to see how umd would weigh in on this question.
