Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Road bike sizing

Hello. I have typed my body dimensions in the competitive cyclist's fitting calculator and it gave me back the recommended geometry of a road bike:

The Competitive Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 51.2 - 51.7
Seat tube range c-t: 52.7 - 53.2
Top tube length: 54.2 - 54.6
Stem Length: 10.9 - 11.5
BB-Saddle Position: 70.4 - 72.4
Saddle-Handlebar: 52.0 - 52.6
Saddle Setback: 3.6 - 4.0

The Eddy Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 52.4 - 52.9
Seat tube range c-t: 53.9 - 54.4
Top tube length: 54.2 - 54.6
Stem Length: 9.8 - 10.4
BB-Saddle Position: 69.6 - 71.6
Saddle-Handlebar: 52.8 - 53.4
Saddle Setback: 4.8 - 5.2

The French Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 54.1 - 54.6
Seat tube range c-t: 55.6 - 56.1
Top tube length: 55.4 - 55.8
Stem Length: 10.0 - 10.6
BB-Saddle Position: 67.9 - 69.9
Saddle-Handlebar: 54.5 - 55.1
Saddle Setback: 4.3 - 4.7

I am interested in buying a new Giant TCR Composite or Advanced but I can't understand which is the best size for me.

Geometry:

Height: 5' 8.5 (174cm)
Inseam: 2' 7.1 (79cm)

Could you please help me?

Thank you.

Give CC a telephone call and have your numbers handy. They know what they are talking about and will help you select the proper size. Or ... visit your LBS and have them fit you.

So you're telling him to call Competitive Cyclist up after he used their free size/fit tool on the web and have them interpret the data so he can buy a bike someplace else?

Do you know what the word "or" means?

I will have to wait until a TCR '12 become widely available. So, initially, I am looking for an opinion...

Thank you.
