Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Go with Record. My wife rides Ultegra.

We're different like that.

Big Ring Cycles. They have some really nice bikes in there and they've been pretty helpful thus far. They actually may not be the closest Cervelo shop but the other one in the same area didn't seem to care if I was in there or not, twice?! What part of CO are you in?

I went by a couple shops up there when I went for a job interview last week, just moved here a few weeks ago. I really like BCS, they seem like some pretty good people. If I end up working up there I'm sure I'll end up using shops and riding up there more often than not. If my wife didn't "have" to work down here, she's at Buckley, I would've preferred to have lived up that way somewhere.

I'm looking to possibly drop some weight of the current setup. Plus I don't have any experience with Di2 and it seems expensive?!

I have Chorus 11 on my new build with Zonda 2-way fit wheelset. It's a pretty big upgrade over my Veloce 10 speed. Shifts great and finicky for me.

You could use the existing Ultegra components and just get the upgrade parts. Di2 is supposed to shirt better than anything else. I don't have it but if I was upgrading or getting a new bike it would be my first choice.

It looks like the upgrade kit would cost as much as a complete kit?! What exactly is required to upgrade to Ui2? Looks like the only things I'd keep would be brakes and crank? https://www.glorycycles.com/shuldi2upkit.html

Well I finalized the build today. It'll be a 2012 Team R3 frame/fork, 3T cockpit and post, Easton EA90 SLX wheels, 2012 SRAM Force, minus the cassette and chain which will be 6700. The deal I could get on Force v Chorus sealed the deal, almost half. Plus from looking around eBay I'll either be able to recoup part of what the Force cost or put it on the wife's bike. Thanks for all the input, even if it appears I went my own way!

I find the opposite to be true.

Well I finally got my bike, 2012 R3 Team frame and fork, SRAM Force Group(except chain and cassette) and Easton EA90 SLX wheels. This bike also has the SRAM BBright adapter which allowed me to use the Force cranks. Just picked it up this evening so haven't had a chance to ride it yet, except around the block. Sorry for the poor pics but all I had was my camera phone.

SF...could you compare the performance of the 2010 RS to the 2011 R3 for me? Is there much of a difference in ride quality? Do you ride on marginal roads?
Thanks.
PS: Congrats on the new build af3nr...very nice. We look forward to your ride report.

Looks awesome, especially the handlebar tape. Enjoy!

I think the bar tape is downright ugly, but the bike is gorgeous. You sure it's a 2012? My paint job looks identical.

Huh. I just had my 2011 RS frame replaced under warranty with the exact same frame about a week or so ago. Maybe they didn't want to ship one or something.

That's exactly what my frame was warranty'd for. It was more than a paint crack though.
