Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Making custom frame/rim decals

Has anyone ever made their own decals for their frame/rims etc.? I've got a frame with no decals on it and was thinking it could be cool to have some custom ones of my own on there somewhere, small or large.

Anyone ever used any store bought materials to make decals? Sticker paper you can print on? Slide paper?

Thoughts, suggestions?

There are a couple of decal makers on eBay; at least one of them posts in the Classic and Vintage forum. JRestore is one of them.

There are also several online decal sites where you pick your font, letters, size, etc. and they are made and sent to you. Vinyl decals. Also lots of places sell decals of animals, skulls, planes, cars, women, etc. to stick on lots of stuff.

Sunlight will fade a lot of decals, especially those printed on a home ink-jet printer.

You can do a completely pro job of custom decals with one.

all you need is to find a local sign maker that prints vinyl. If your doing the wheel, you will need to find the correct degree of curve. A vinyl shop should have experience with this though and know what to do.
