Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

speedplay users: shoe covers that fit over the cleat?

I have recently switched over to speedplay pedals, and with the fore/aft adapter installed and the cleats 5mm further back than they can be without the adapter, I am having a devil of a time finding a shoe cover that accommodates the cleat, since most of the LBS's around here carry PI covers and they are cut for triangular cleats. Does anyone have any suggestions?

hmmm my PI covers work with my speedplay cleats. Takes a lot of pulling and stretching, but I figure that's the case with any cover. I did not have to mod the covers at all.

Yeah, my PI covers just don't have enough stretch to make it around my cleats since they are so far back. I am looking for something that doesn't have the triangular hole, really. I don't want to have to take 5 minutes of swearing and straining to get the covers on or off

I just got some Capo covers that go around my Speedplay cleats no problem. The XXL size also isn't challenged by my size 48 Mega Sidis; they are easy to put on and take off.

I bought some Specialized toe/shoe covers and they fit fine over the speedplay cleats. I didn't try the full shoe covers, but the opening for the cleat looked like the same size as what I have.

What size feet do you have?

I have size 11 feet and use the largest PI shoe covers. I can get them to stretch over my Speedplay cleats but it is a workout...

Size 43.5 S-Works road. I also use them with my Specialized Comp MTB shoes and CB cleats. They fit with no problem. I think your issue is with the booties.
