Fizik: Arione v. Arione Tri2
Anyone have any experience with both these saddles?
I just got a pretty good deal on one of each. Since i"ve got two bikes and Fiziks site says the Arione is the best saddle for me I thought I'd toss them on and see which one I prefer. Just kind of wondering what to expect.

Funny you should ask this. I had the same question about 5 months back but didn't get many reply's and the reply's I got basically told me not to try the tri2. I rode the arione for over a year and loved it. it was the right shape for me but found it a little firm. I wanted something with a LITTLE more padding. I did a bunch of research and really the only difference is the tri2 has a little more padding up front and the padding throughout the saddle is less dense. The leather is also more supple, softer to the touch. I bought a tri2 on CL for $50, it was basically brand new. I have been riding it for 4 months now and I love it. it has everything I want. I also find the padding in the nose helpful for when I am pulling in the front and I'm in the drops really digging. I would highly recommend that if you are wanting the same type feel and looking for the shape but just a hint more padding to try the tri2.

There was 2 Arione w/ Kium rails that ended up for $18 and $25 on the 'bay this morning.
I couldn't make up my mind. I couldve snagged either.
My current saddle is 240g vs 225 on the Kium'd railed Arione. I thought it wasn't much of a different and the long nose design may be annoying.
Oh well.

like I mentioned above, I love it and dont notice any difference in shape or length while I'm riding, its just more comfortable.

I put the Arione on my main road bike and the Tri2 on the tandem (even though the colors dont work). My Specialized Riva was OK up to about 35 miles. Its now gonna be on my back-up bike. It will be interesting to see how the Arione fares on +35 mile rides.

I have tried both and the Tri2 feels nice on short rides but sucks on long rides. The middle on the front is raised enough that it causes a bit of numbness on longer rides(yes, my saddle is setup correctly). The padding enables you to sort of sink into it over longer rides because it is softer and yes, it is about 35 grams heavier than a regular Arione and something like 55-60 heavier than an Arione CX. Obviously, it's great for triathlons and shorter rides but it's just not good for longer rides, imo(which it was never designed for anyway). YMMV
