Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanksgiving Holiday Rides

Are you doing any special group rides, club rides, or just getting out for a ride to work off the feast? If so, post 'em up!! We woke up to a 50 degree day here in the NC mountains, and the forecast is the same for the weekend, so I'll be getting some mileage in with pics.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

35 mile fast ride this morning. That is it! Might do a longer slower ride tomorrow though.

I don't ride on Thanksgiving. My tradition is a nice long ride the day after Thanksgiving.

Gonna leave for a group ride right now. 45 easy miles. If someone is willing to come with me might do a more difficult route instead.

I want a new bike too, not because there's anything wrong with my CAAD 9, there isn't. It's just a want thing.

47 mile hammerfest in order to go watch the Turkey Race. Suddenly our hammerfest was put into perspective.

Happy Thanksgiving! Among my other innumerable blessings, I'm thankful for my beautiful bike that I did a very leisurely 8 miles on this morning. Hope everyone has a great day and great rides. Eat up!

50 mile with Treasure Coast Cycling. It was a hammerfest for many but not I.

I have been the nail lately.

I rode a whopping 2 miles to the local track where I ran seven miles. I will probably go out for a 40 miler tomorrow as the weather is in the seventies this week. I love the winters in the South.

Well that turned into a hard ride. Easy pace for the first 5 miles and hammered for 40!

Beautiful day in NoVA, I rode the Skyline Drive in Shennandoah. What a beautiful ride. I even ran across a bear and her cubs on the way down.

Went for a short 25 miler ( just got back), with my nephew, a cat 2 college racer. It was his relaxing day after a maximal effort workout yesterday. Needless to say it was not a minimal effort day for this 58 yo cyclist. Great fun.

My team did a path ride this morning. I got in around 60 miles on the cross bike. My back is hating it right now, and the turkey is kickin' in, time to sleep

Happy Turkey Day all!

I don't have classes on Thursday's so I went for a ride 12-3. No idea how far I went, just to ride. It was fun. Some guy honked at me twice and gave me a thumbs up lol.

37 miles along the bayou and sugar cane fields this morning at a leisurely pace. 65 miles yesterday. Hoping to burn off enough calories in advance to account for today's gluttony.
