Your favorite embrocation?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your favorite embrocation?

Hey, I tried to search, got this:

"The following errors occurred with your search:
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search:
embrocation"

Really, search engine?

Anyway, what embrocation do you prefer (and where do you get it)? I've never used any before and want to pick some up.

I just started using ebrocation cream a couple of weeks ago. I am using Mad Alchemy Medium ebrocation cream. I do have to say, I am afraid to try the madness, I'm afraid my legs would catch on fire after the ride.

Here is a link to it. clicky, clicky...

Oh yeah, one warning. When applying a little goes a long way. I have started using latex gloves to apply it to make sure I don't get any in places that I don't want it later.

After the ride I use alcohol wipes to remove it but plan to pick up some witch hazel in the next couple of days to use. Baby wipes are supposed to work well also.

Well, when it's about 40-45 outside and I want to wear shorts and a short sleeve jersey, I use DZ Nuts InHeat High Heat. Now, I'm telling you right now, this is REALLY hot and it will linger for hours. Also, when you take a shower, well it's going to be rather interesting if you're not used to using this strength. However, use it sparingly in the right spots, and it'll allow you to get by without much on. They also make a medium heat that I use when it's 50-55 outside and a low heat that I use just around my knees when it's between 60-65 outside. You can get all these at Amazon, Real Cyclist, etc. The above recommendation for Mad Alchemy is solid as well.

I use Cramer's Atomic Balm. Dirt cheap for a huge tub. Get the Medium. And a lot of rubbing alcohol (a big bottle of 70 or 80% will do fine, you don't have to get the super strong stuff, you just need lots of it) and towels. A bath towel is about the area you need, so either bring a bath towel or 3-4-5 smaller ones. I use this even when it's moderately warm (up to about 70 deg) and sometimes when I ride the trainer indoors (60-70 deg).

I use straight Vaseline or similar in the rain. Heat rubs just draw heat to the surface, and in the wet you never get warm if you use one of these irritant type rubs.

I make my own. Shea butter, olive oil, essential oils. It's no more expensive than the pre-made stuff, and I can make it smell any way I want.

I use sportsbalm medium. I used it in a 25 degree cross race and a 40 degree rainy road race this year. Both times my legs were the only warm part of my body. The hot is for subfreezing temps only.

I'll 3rd the Mad Alchemy. I've used many and love that one. They also have lots of "flavors" with Russian Tea being my favorite scent (it's a medium). Greyhound juice is also good because it comes in a stick so you don't have to touch it as much, but you still have to rub it in. I found their medium a bit hot for my tastes. For really cold days, I'll put embro on the soles of my feet too.

I also like Russian Tea. And like the others, I've found that a little goes a long way. And of course be extremely careful not to get any on your chamois.

here is my fav, I've tried a bunch and this works great.. Tiger Balm Oil + Distilled Water in a spray bottle.. Spray on legs, rub in and then make sure to wash your hands..

works great and last a long time.. Try 2oz of oil and 6 ounces of water to start, then adjust..

^1+. Finally a voice of reason. Don't be fooled by semantics. When I'm thirsty I drink - not hydrate. Embrocation? Bengay works just as well, if not better. And yeah, I've tried a few of the above-named brands.

I looked this up and you can get a pound of it for $23. I ended up buying it to try out because that's just an amazing price. Thanks for posting this.
