I just looked in there. :wtf: mind you rating someone's bike based on how they take the photo in line with some imaginary rules is effing stupid. it's not how it looks, it's how it rides that is important.

If they think exercise fuels the brain, these scientists need to explain the 41.

Another great day for a ride already 52 and sunny in NYC. This winter has been great for riding.

We have the PubCrawler here in Austin. Pedal powered vehicle that takes you from bar to bar downtown.

Finally got my ride in late afternoon yesterday (not on the PubCrawler). 22 miles in 85 degrees. I don't like riding during commute time and sure enough, came pretty close to getting right hooked. Lady on a cell phone turning into her sub-division. Thankfully it was a slight uphill so I was going around 14 mph and was able to brake and avoid her as she turned across my path.

I came very close to being hit by a lady coming from her home as well. It was a year ago but I was spooked for a while. Two bad lady drivers does that provide
Statistical significance?

rjones28 02-23-12 10:56 AM

The last two people who tried to take me out with their cars were men. Does that balance out the two bad lady drivers?

Okay, it seems like BF has a bunch of Serious Sally's on over the winter. Did folks' senses of humor go south? I had someone tell me they were going to ignore me, on one of my least offensive posts. Announcing you are going to ignore someone is patently not ignoring someone. If they want to do so, just do so. Harrummph.

From 18 months of lurking before joining, I thought the rule was 60% serious posts, 40% utter non-sense. I follow that strictly. But now folks are actually taking this stuff seriously.

And where did LowCel go?

Again I say Harrummph.

rjones28 02-23-12 11:23 AM

Harrummph.

Velo Vol 02-23-12 11:42 AM

On another forum I frequent it's not uncommon for people to announce they are ignoring other people after a post they view as particularly dumb.

That would kill the discussion here.

Well said.

Okay, to maintain the serious to not ratio, I have a real BF related question.

I built my Cinelli, and am stoked. It is filling my "go fast" bike spot, which makes my flat bar road "BIKE" my commuter with fenders, knock around vehicle. Both are aluminum.

Now I have the urge to get up a steel bike, either a DT shifter like the Bianchi Campione or Masi Strada, or a single speed, lightweight ride, like the Wabi Classic or an IRO frame. Honestly, Mr. Rjones28's Schwinn pics give me the urge to go old school. I have offered to help coordinate the B rides in the group I ride with, and was thinking of having something not optimized to ride on those rides.

In addition, I don't know which of my current two I am going to take on my June circle the state ride, so I am kind of thinking the steel bike would go that way.

Thoughts? Need more info? Harruummph?

Soloist Assassin 02-23-12 12:12 PM

If you're going to strip all the paint off of your bicycle frame to save weight. You might as well put a lighter headset on it while you are at it, eh?

Do you want to a project or just an oldie that's pretty much ready to go.

There are a couple of potential candidates on CL:

http://syracuse.craigslist.org/bik/2854548839.html
http://syracuse.craigslist.org/bik/2863435996.html

I would classify both of them as projects.
